Sub 70, Haywood, New Level

Hello all,

I’m interested in these DTC companies for a new set of irons. Do any of you have experience with these companies? I like the TA III from sub 70, CB’s from Haywood, and the CB’s from New Level. Any of these companies I might want to stay away from due to quality of product or customer service?

I’ve had the Sub70 699 pros which were pretty good.  I’m currently playing the New Level 902-PD’s and absolutely love them. I like them over the 699’s on both looks and feel. Both companies have great customer service so you can’t go wrong there.  I know these aren’t the specific models you were asking about, but thought I’d chime in anyways with my experience with the two companies.

Sub 70 and New Level are great to work with and I’ve heard nothing but positives about Haywood. You should absolutely demo each iron.

I demoed both Sub70 (639 CBs) and New Level (902s and MODB-1) and found them to all be of equal build quality to higher end stuff. Obviously they lack some of the flashy tech that large OEMs have to trot out to get attention and market around but the feel and performance was right there. I liked Haywood but at the time they didn't have demos available I was looking for. I ultimately choose another DTC brand (Ben Hogan) but that was just because I had the best numbers with their configuration. I could have easily played the New Levels or Sub 70s and they would have been improvements over my Cobras. I still think about those blacked out 639CBs...often.

They all make pretty sweet gear, but only Haywood makes everything in both left and right.

Happy New Level customer here. Great product, one of the few to nail the specs I ordered, and you get answers within minutes from the CEO himself. Will buy again.

I‘m somewhat bummed they’ve discontinued the OG 902 Forged. I think those are a legendary iron already and I’m hunting on eBay for a replacement once mine wear out. The perfect player’s iron, IMO.

Just got the 902-OS from new level and the customer service was great, the owner Eric answered my questions within the hour and was very helpful. Definitely highly recommend. I am interested in trying a sub 70 wide blade or Fang tooth though, hoping to find one used in Canada or hoping that the Canadian distributor gets a pre-owned one at some point, early communications with Sub 70 have been great though. Seems like all of these three are great choices from both personal experience and a little digging of my own before making my iron set purchase. Love the idea of supporting a smaller company, and saving money on top quality products it's really a complete win win

I’ve hit the sub 70 before. Not a bad feeling club. But, last week I walked past a guy on the range looking for his sub 70 head down range.

I've seen pretty much every brand have a flier at some point, that's not unique

I have yet to catch a Flier with my 902OS irons. Quality is right up there is my Miuras. I wish NL had a deeper graphite shaft offering like MMTs and Accra iCWTs.

They used to carry more graphite shafts. Not sure if it was a supply issue or just trying to keep inventory more manageable by reducing the number of shaft offerings as to why they’re no longer available. Way back in the day he had a huge shaft offering. I had Oban 115s put in my 623-Ms. That was 2018....I think.

Another possible reason is that he could of bought the heads only and built them himself. 😉 just sayn’

I’ve been impressed in everyone of my dealings with new level.  They have the best driving iron I’ve ever swung.  I demod their PF1’s and PF2’s but ended up going with MP20’s instead.

I think they call it a Tour Cavity, between the CB and MB. They haven't posted any photos of them yet.

The new forged clubs this spring from both New Level and Sub70 look incredible, and make it hard to spend 30%-40% more for one of the major brands.

Sub70's drivers and woods are a fantastic value as well.

In a few months, I'll likely have an almost all Sub70 bag.
