Favorite Putter of All Time?

If you could either own, or just name your favorite type of putter, what would it be? Mine would be either my personal Scotty or the Black Lab BL-1 putter (in oil can finish).

 

Other honorable mentions would be any putter by Artisan or TP Mills

I love my Artisan 0920 head long neck.  I've had it for a year or so now, and it is the best putter I've ever stroked.  It will not leave the bag.

 

That said, I really want an 009 shaped head with a long neck.  Love the look of that style head.  Going out to the Artisan shop this week to see if John can do that.  If not, will probably reach out to Josey.

I have two grandsons and I'd like to leave each of them an Artisan or MackMade putter.

In terms of looks and their significance within the game of golf, it's almost impossible for me to say anything besides the original 1966 Anser. 

 

You might find that shape in an 009, dalehead, or whatever name an individual manufacturer might give it, but it's an aesthetically pleasing shape that has proven, over time, to be able to put the ball in the hole. 

 

Unfortunately, plumber's neck putters just don't work for me. I wish they did.

 

So, my favorite putter tends to be whatever I have in the bag. These days, it's a Betti SS7.

I'm pretty happy with my Goodwood model which is the Dale Head, black, sight dot, weights 330 grams (carbon steel) with a 38 gram Sacks Parente grip and a stepped steel shaft.

 

Some of my favorite putters of all time are.

1.  Ping Zing 2 Black - I never owned one and with the Zing type model I only putted average at best with them.  But when Curtis Strange was using the Zing 2 model, it was just so freaking cool.  Then my friend got his hands on one of the first black Zing 2 models, made a gazillion putts with it and it was even cooler.

 

2.  Mint condition Wilson 8802 with the Neumann Leather paddle grip.  Just so classy and beautiful.

 

3.  Most of the TP Mills models, particularly the Softtail, Triad II and Nellie.

I've always been drawn to the 8802's, but I think my favorite of that style would be the Scotty Cameron Napa Valley. There's just something to that bullet sole on a classic heel shafted putter that will always stand out to me.

My 3 GOAT putters

 1- My current rusty Santa Fe have had it in the bag 5 years now

2 SS Ping Zing 2 carried it over 20 years

3- Cleveland Designed By 8802 style gets a lot of vintage play for me

"Favorite Putter of All Time", to me I see this post as an over-time opinion of your favorite putter or style of putter.

My favorite style of putter is the classic often copied Ping Anser Dale Head.

My favorite "gamer" putter of all time would be the late 1990's carbons steel Cameron Newports.

My favorite putter is a Spalding TP Mills #9.  There is something about the weight, length, shape, and grip (original grip) that just fits for me.  I am deadly accurate with it and no other putter has come close......and believe me.....I've looked at a lot of putters (inexpensive and custom).  The #9 has stayed in my bag longest, and won't be leaving.  I don't tend to upgrade equipment (I still play my Ping Zing irons and will until I can't swing a club any longer.)

My favorite putter of all time is my Mannkrafted Rattler XL. Face inlays. Tombstone neck. Really nothing like it.

 

Secondly, I think in general, David Mills kills everything he does. All his putters have subtleties that make them very recognizable in a field where much looks the same. Special shout out to the softtail shape.

Hard to believe these ONLY retailed for $600.  I shoulda bought 10.  They've gotta be worth boatloads now.

I think I have this exact putter in my parent's basement... It was the first putter I bought with my own money... I think I paid $5.  Used it for years
