I was fortunate enough to meet Sam at the Rooftop of the Partridge Inn in Augusta a few weeks ago after he played his first practice round.

 

Super nice kid and actually approached me and another sales guy after hearing us talking about golf.  We talked golf for almost 2 hours.

 

He was cordial enough to take a photo with me and signed a cocktail napkin for me (and yes, I had him sign the napkin I had rested my fork on after eating shrimp and grits!  Haha!)

Fun to see him play today. Playing with lots of freedom and no worries. Hope he keeps it up.

He was unwatchable in US Am due to slow play. It was awful.

Might have to work on that if he turns pro, and will certainly have to address that Niemann-esque swing if he plans on staying healthy after age 35 when he is no longer a Gumby.

Putter is sweet. 
 

I was hating on him during the am because of slow play, but I guess he’s figured whatever he was working on out as he seems to be spending much less time over the ball from what I’ve seen this week. Hopefully he keeps rolling this weekend, seems like a great kid and very talented

He shouldn't be allowed to play those wedges. They clearly say "Pro" and he's not one!

 

Impressive two rounds, and I reckon he's still going to be in the top 5 when the second round is completed. 

 

Let's hope to he keeps it up over the weekend. The wet conditions should help that putter get even more of a patina😍

Best view in Georgia. Part Inn is spectacular.
