Good grief Jordan… Ball in hand before the first tee shot even lands… If you can’t just get up on the tee with a wide-open shot like that and hit a little cut without thinking about it, I don’t know what to tell you … damn …

Seems like the morning wave was posting better scores than the afternoon? Wonder if that will reverse tomorrow.

It was a great day out there; rory was very confident and Jordan look a bit out of sorts.

huh? He hasn't been #1 in almost 7 years and even though #2, he's so far behind Scottie, it'll take years before he gets back to #1.

Unless Scottie goes LIV hahahaha

Rory was world number 1 in 2020. It won't take years for anybody to catch Scheffler. Scheffler went from world 15 to number 1 in 9 weeks.

Just saw Morgan Hoffmann on the leaderboard. Interesting. He's playing pretty well too.

Nice to see him posting a good number! Wonder what his choice of celebratory drink was after the round... 🤣

I have jokes, but I'll keep them stored for now since I am a fan of his and want to see him completely rebound and back on the tour.

Good to talk golf here!

Poston even after 8 (my internet leaderboard is slow to update) after going low yesterday. He’d better pick it up or someone like Cantlay, Schaufelle, or (hopefully) Rory will lap him. Many other players shooting red scores so far so course still not too tough. Harris English’s winning score last year (-13 ? then 8!!! Hole playoff) is in danger.

Im thinking the projected cut on pgatour.com at -1 might end up going to 2 or even 3.

It'll be interesting to see if the afternoon groupings suffer the same fate today as they did yesterday. Might end up with a bunched up leaderboard up top when the dust settles.

Jordan Spieth hit the first ball in the water all day on #16, and the 2nd ball of the day in the water on #17.

PS. There is no water on #18.

Now that Bryson and Patrick Reed are gone, Jordan is the guy that I like to root against (but not anywhere near as much as Bryson and Patrick).  I have just never enjoyed watching Jordan hit driver; the fidgets make it worse.  I'm almost starting to fee sorry for him.

Yeah, definitely looking like morning scoring is better. Could mean the cut doesn't move all that much if some of those players under par yesterday morning slide this afternoon.

Don't think Spieth has enough left in the tank to get on the right side of the line... Just birdied to go to +2, but only has 4 holes left to play.

Excuse my ignorance. But seeing Matt Wolff and Rickie playing. Was it not announced that they were off to the XVIII short league??? 🫤

No, Rickie has been heavily rumored in this second round of speculation but unlike a lot of these guys has denied it.  I was curious today whether today would be his last round on the tour.  He seemed to be leaving the door open and people are taking those spots.  Not just him but I think it's going to be interesting to see who's in next week's field.

176 ball speed with a 3-wood for Rory. And it looked like he didn't go after it very hard. Wish I could do that. I'm jealous! LOL

A BS w/3 wood most humans can’t sniff with driver… Like any top level sports professional, these guys are  just different. Watching a SF Giants game the other day. Their closer sits at 100mph and hits 103. I remember when a 95 mph fastball was rare. Now it’s like, oh he tops out at only 95??? Meh 😜

Rory in particular is super rare. I stood next to him at the Houston Open many years ago. He is tiny, yet creates the type of speed you see in much larger players. It's pretty incredible that he's able to do this.

Oh yeah. I say he’s different amongst the different guys! Calling him a freak isn’t derogatory.

Yeah, I followed Rors at the Genesis several years ago and it's just incredible what he does.

I've said it before; what amazes me most is that he generates so much speed while staying in absolute perfect balance. Like, you never really see him recoil or fall off his finish ... it's a hell of a thing to see in person.

Indeed, he's not swinging out of his shoes like Bryson or prime Tiger. And he's so tiny. I swear he might be shorter than 5-9 based on standing next to him. I'm less than 5-10 myself and he was shorter than me. It doesn't make any sense that he's able to create that type of power.
