Agreed. Maybe another foot away from the lip of the bunker would have been all he needed? Tough break. Hope we see more of him.

I don't think he's going anywhere. He just needs to learn to calm himself down when things go a little bad for him.

How come there's so much support for Sahith on these forums, and how come I experience none of this in real-life, and just experience "Get off my course"?

I liked him a lot when I read this:

His coaches were worried: Sahith Theegala looked downright horrible as he prepared for his first collegiate tournament.

The California kid seemed to be totally out of whack as he warmed up for the Primland Collegiate Invitational on that September 2015 day.

There’s nerves, and then there was this: Theegala was topping shots and “skanking” irons on the range. Near the putting green, his chipping motion was, uhh, bizarre, as Theegala took long backswings and big divots as he half-chunked his shots onto the green. On the putting surface, he turned his flatstick upside-down and started hitting the ball with the toe.

Pepperdine assistant coach Armen Kirakossian saw it all and voiced his concern to head coach Michael Beard. At some point, though, Kirakossian had to intervene.

Sahith, what are you doing, man?

Theegala pointed out that his playing competitors were nearby. This was all part of the plan.

“He (tells Armen), ‘Coach, it’s OK. I’m just trying to psyche out these guys I’m playing with,’ ” Beard said.

How to say you're clueless without saying you're clueless.

Clueless-ness just comes easily to me. What can I say?

It’s kinda my jam.

I do think the camera angle/zoom may have made it look closer to the lip than it was.  As Sahith said, he felt worst case was he would catch too much sand and chunk it out and be no worse off than if he didn't go for the green.  It's tough to blame the decision when he just made a bad swing at a bad time.  If he hits it good and it ends up on the green everyone (or most) would be praising his decision.

I looked at the leaderboard today when the women finished up, and said “nah, I’m gonna take a nap”. Other than Xander ( who bores me to death) everyone else were either guys I never heard of, or could care less about.

It looked like a KFT event broke out on CBS. Maybe the PGAT is in more trouble than I thought.

I believe you mean ‘couldn’t care less about’. If you could “care less” it means you care 😊

I watched US Senior Open instead. I'm probably in the minority though. We are in the worst stretch of the year for sports anyway.

Agree. I don't think the moment is too big for him like you do for alot of young players. Maybe he just wants it too bad and needs to learn to slow down and let it happen.

Me too.  I flipped back and forth.

Next time he'll go out sideways.  It's not like the job of a PGA player is difficult when compared to the complexities and time restraints of other vocations.   For example:

Imagine what the foundry worker faces pouring molten steel every single day.

Consider the cake maker that needs to decorate three wedding cakes every 30 minutes.

Or, treating a thrombosed hemorrhoid at an interstate rest area.

Sahith will be back to play another day.  He made a good chunk of cash.

Or Liz struggling to keep YJS on a somewhat even keel.

(I'd take treating the thrombosed hemorrhoid)

Liz and team recently had the 2022 Jordan Spieth Summit.  It was a 3-day event.

Much came from it.

They are taking his counseling in a new direction.  Liz's husband is no longer the swing coach and they ditched the pre-shot routine thought of Jordan being captain of a large sailing vessel.  You see, Jordan had trouble using a sextant.  It was also decided that Michael would stay on the bag after a narrow and highly contested 3 to 2 vote from the team.  The team also passed along a 32% price increase for their services, stating inflation as the primary driver.

Liz stated, "hope and progress is right around the corner."

I get it now.

Theegala was psyching Schauffele with his 2nd and 3rd shots on the 72nd hole.
