Hopefully he learns from this. Even my 12 year old was yelling at the TV for him to just lay up and try and get up and down. But it's still a very tough way to learn a lesson.

I guess it turns out that par was indeed needed to tie.  If he makes bogey he loses.  So maybe going at it makes a hair more sense now ?
