He also took some time away.  When CC bought TXG, Matt left.  If I remember right, he really didn't play.  His speed and consistency both went down in that extended break.  So, it's not the same Matty that we had been watching a couple years ago.

Matt did step away for a bit and started putting out some pretty interesting content on building up his Left and Right handed swing.  He again stepped away for a bit due to personal reasons.  I believe he got married last year and is working on his game.  I am glad he is back, good dynamic with these guys.

When I saw the initial photos of Stealth 2, I personally did not love the look as much as my Stealth+ OG. I think the matte crown suits my eye better and I like the chrome accents on the sole.

After watching several of these reviews, I’m feeling good about Stealth+ staying in the bag (good for my chances in the Bag Is Set Challenge 😁). The only offerings that I really liked the look of were Cobra Aerojet and TSR. There doesn’t seem to be much there with Aerojet, but I think I’ll test TSR now that I’ve seen everything available. Callaway certainly seems to have a strong contender with Paradym, but the look is not for me.

p.s. I know others will say they can look past the look for performance, but I need to love my driver at address and I will put a good swing on it. 💪

Yep. But even prior to the club Champion boondoggle, he wasn't the machine their videos portray him to be. Every now and then you'd see a shot tracer they left on the ballflight snippet and you'd see a ball that started going left 100 yards after contact and it ended up in Saskatchewan

Definitely.

Their videos just weren't the same without him.  I hardly watched them anymore until he came back.

While that is true, there were several vids with both Ryan and Marty hitting clubs.  They have totally different swings, so it was interesting to see how the same club reacted to a high spinning fade versus a low bullet draw.  It was more interesting to me from a mechanics standpoint, but I did miss Matty during club reviews.

Ian said himself in the TXG review 'dont like to see all this grey space' when looking at Matt's ball flight and dispersion image charts with the drivers, but quickly changed subject.

I've watched the Peter Finch review and the one nearer the bottom with the guy whos name I dont know. I wouldnt categorize these as negative reviews - at all. So this "all reviews are negative" junk seems to be just that...

But that’s just it they really are negative, it’s obvious that Rick Shields didnot hold back on his review, TXG masked as much as they could and Finch’s data does not lie. Look I’ve been a Taylormade driver guy for years all the way back to the TP model days. But for $625 dollars and you have to pay up to $250 for upgrades it’s simply not worth that money. Just look at the dispersion on those test. Once again a poor stock shaft selection I believe has contributed to this. I will be putting that 3 wood in the bag as I loved the M5 and feel it will be a close comparison. This year I’ll stay with the Stealth+ and look at the Callaway triple diamond.

Here is the best review I have seen, this guy actually uses the weight track.

As for Shiels I'm sorry but that guys game is A DISASTER to be telling me a driver is good or not good.  He was hitting it all over the place!!!

As for Matty every time he works with that Larry guy his swing goes to crap, IAN even liked a post of mine that stated just that!

Finch wasn't that negative he just absolutely CRUSHED The Paradigm series they fit him!

Mike Newton also hit the Plus VERY well & he really liked it.

Peter Finchy and Shielsy in a good part of the market for these reviews. They aren’t shilling anything. Most of the other influencers are affiliated with OEMs. Crossfield does a good job staying somewhat objective despite Srixon deal. I hold TxG up higher in my mind kind of take them more serious on this gear stuff. They have a good team.

That's because, if you watch yhe reviews the last couple days that are not at the txg studios, Matt IS NOT a straight hitter. This is why I've chided them about selective shot removal for driver reviews. They cherry pick good strikes. Watch the shot counter in txg videos. Matt hits some WILD draws a lot. It's why I said he wouldn't be in the winner of the driver bracket a couple years ago because half his drives weren't in a 50y wide fairway.  Sure enough, less than 2 months into gaming the bracket winner, he swapped into a forgiving setup because he couldn't keep "freaky deeky mavreeky" on the planet.

He's good for how a driver can perform on good strikes. But they miss the ball on showing how bad strikes are punished or not.

Totally agree with this. Of late every review says the club is so good, much better than last years. Nothing is ever critical which makes me doubt their honesty. Watching some of the Carlsbad reviews first swing they show is shot counter 20 or something. And everyone is going “oooo that was striped”. What about the other crappy ones. They will never poorly review a new years model as they have no vested interest in saying last years model is better as they cannot get and sell previous models  at the crazy prices they charge

I didn’t realize others had that view.

I saw a vid where he advocated folding your lead arm across your chest to get more power. Wow. That’s a death move for most players. I stopped with those vids after that.

another suspicious thing about that Larry guy is I’ve never seen him hit a ball except to demonstrate a drill.

It seems like a lot of YouTube reviewers have a really hard time saying anything that comes across as critical while testing new stuff at the companies' HQs. One thing Shiels, Finch and Crossfield have in common is that they didn't have brand reps standing next to them while they filmed their reviews. I think based on watching this year's reviews, I wish other YouTubers would decline those corporate trips in the future.

This is why I find these initial videos mostly worthless.  Once they are away from OEM staff, and comparing head-to-head with same shaft on same day, then I am much more interested.

That's where I am at.  Get them back to their controlled environment not on the OEMs fitting range and let them do a legit test.

I have another dumb question if someone can help me out. I placed the order for the 3 wood and 5 wood in the stealth 2+ this morning. I opted for the Graphite design iz 7 shaft. Will they come the correct length that is on the stock spec sheet? On the 3 wood it says it's 43.25" and the 5 wood it's 42.25". If I didn't make any notes on the length or anything will they still be those lengths? Just wanna make sure I don't get the same length 3 wood and 5 wood.

But that is exactly what’s relevant for the majority of golfers. They don’t benefit from excellent players reviewing these clubs, that are able to bomb out a 5 million yards drive down the middle with a US Kids driver for a 6 months old baby. What counts is how new releases behave in the hands of average to decent players like Shiels. I couldn’t care less how Tiger hits this driver.

I’d have checked the tipping specs TM use to check compliance with your swing and maker’s recommendations.

he may have had good results at the end but the spin dispersion was terrible within each model. Like what 2300-4200? That’s absolutely insanity and what I’ve seen in all the reviews. Matt barely missed and went from 1900 to 3300 spin.
