But they don’t cancel a major because it ends up between Shaun Micheel and Chad Campbell, or the unknowns that occasionally win majors. Just because a few match play finals have been won by lesser known players doesn’t mean that’s the standard. A Rory vs Scheffler final with the two at their peak would be one of the top moments of the golfing year.

Nice reference! I happened to be there. Shaun M. caught lightning in a bottle. I wonder to this day if it was a factor in Chad Campbell not realizing what at the time seemed to be his ascension to the elite. To be fair to Shaun, I believe he was also playing great for most of that season. Oak Hill, what a beauty of a course.
