What driver is "Ol' reliable" for you?

Curious (not really cause this is WRX and if you dont have a backup driver to backup your backup then why are you here?)

Does anyone else have an old faithful they turn to when struggling off the tee, and if so what's the setup compared to your current gamer?

For me, I've been gaming an 11 degree TSi3 turned down to 10.25 for the last 6 months or so.  Have made 6-7 different changes in shaft, all with fairly similar results.  I usually swing between 103-105 and this head gives me the 1-2 "bombs" a round that we all live for.  The shots that exceed what our swing speed should in theory allow us to hit. Problem is, I also get some nasty dinker's with his head that end up going 220-230 making things far more inconsistent and difficult than they need to be.

Headed on a golf trip this weekend, and even though I haven't swung it in month's my old TS2 came out of the basement and straight into the bag.  I know I'm sacrificing a few mph of ball speed, but the high straight 260-275 ball i get even on average swings keeps me in play and more importantly gives me more GIR opportunity. It's interesting that much like putters, when you have a round that REALLY matters on the Calander you turn to the gear that isn't always the prettiest girl at the prom.

I still have my OG Stealth as my back up but I wouldn't call it old faithful, lol.  It has a hot spot on it where the ball speed jumps up 3-5 mph.  I can't see myself getting rid of it as a result.

I had an OG Sim i took on trade from a buddy, never could find the consistency with it i needed by my god was it long. Had it in a 9 degree head and never had any issued at all getting it to launch, have always wanted to try a 10.5 to see if a little more spin wouldve made it playable. I think it was the same deal with the "hot spot", slightly high too and the ball just carried for days.

What ball do you play?  Playing a higher spinning ball can add 300+rpm spin easily for driver.

At the time it was prolly CSX or ProV1X.  I know it needed some help because the freak show balls were always soft cut's, if i tried to turn it over it would fall out of the sky and run for OB like a bat out of hell.

I know exactly what you mean.  The huge bomb cut that stays in the air forever that carries 300+.  Then you step on the next tee box and hit that quacker that curves hard into the bushes that barely gets 30 feet off the ground.

I have 2

Driver - Original Cobra ZL 10.5 with the black/red Kuro Kage shaft. Whenever things start getting sideways with the big stick, the ZL comes out of retirement to save the day. It's money and only slightly shorter than anything I've had in the last 17 years since I bought it.

Putter - Ping Anser 2 circa 1985-6. Still sees regular action when I take out my backup bag. I really like my Sigma2 Fetch, but there's just something about this damn Anser that is just magic. Whenever I get aboard the Putting Struggle Bus, it goes back in the main bag.

PING G400 MAX with RIPTIDE MX 65s. My gamer and backup.

Just like every year I am demoing all the latest and greatest. The most recent was a Tour Edge E723 with Ventus 6s. It promised similar forgiveness with more distance, but once again the GOAT beat it out. I will be giving the G430 MAX a try next.

Multiple heads fit the bill as long as it has my trusty YS-5 Nanoreloaded shaft in it. Having that shaft with the feels you know is way more important than the head used.

2015 GBB, never part with it.

I still don’t understand why they can’t make 460cc heads look like that anymore.

Same here, 2015 GBB with the stock Aldila white shaft (60 S). Can't replace it with anything and I've tried all the new drivers each year for the past 3 years. There just aren't any gains that warrant a change.

Ol' Reliable for me is my Sim2 Max driver.  9* set at 10*.  Works great for me.  Nice baby fade that's very consistent unless absolutely butcher the swing.
