Could a guy who took up golf yesterday beat Michael Block if his caddy was a 4 handicap?

Needs to change his putting coach, something must be going on at home, maybe he didn’t take the $50,000 for his 7i and now wish he did. Let’s everybody start speculating or dies it make sense as maybe after being in the spotlight from last weeks performance was over whelming as he never had much time to enjoy it and to get right back out there and try to meet everybody s expectations was too much pressure on him. There is a very good reason why he is teaching and not a full time professional PGA player on tour

Does he even need it. Rory is so yesteryear. Block is who we can’t blink or we’ll miss. We’ll see who’s better at the Ryder Cup. Match 10 on Sunday will be Rors vs Block.

Folks - I was really worried about him after the PGA. Get why he suddenly got invited to things, thought it was a bad idea to accept, and thought he should have actually known better. 

 

Look, a lot of us on WRX have been playing for a long time, some of us a very long time. Anyone that has knows what their "normal" is at any given time (that will go up and down over the years). But almost everyone that has played for years knows what the "magic" round (or week) is. Those rare times when every aspect of the game seems to effortlessly gel. You aren't even thinking, you are Zen. But these are incredibly uncommon. In fact, the USGA actually recognizes the "exceptional round", and makes certain it does not too badly lower your handicap. You can't predict when you have a magic week. You can't practice it or program it, every now and then it just happens. It is random.

Last week was absolutely memorable because of the bizarre convergence of two things: He had one of those incredibly rare magical weeks where everything just worked, but it randomly happened at the same time as he was playing (as an invitee that wasn't even supposed to make the cut) in a freaking major. Yes, made for a positively spectacular event for us as fans. But thinking an "expectational round" would be the norm is just dumb. 

 

He should have let that magnificent week stand. All he'll do know is embarrass himself. He's back from the peak to his normal golf. Club Pros aren't PGAT golfers. Double digits over par is what you'd expect of a club pro at Schwab.

He played as an invitee in what way? He and 19 other Club Pros qualified (out of 312) in their own PGA Professional championship to play in the PGA. He was T2 in the event. You seem to act like he was in on a sponsor exemption. He earned his way in. It's not like the PGA just picked him off some  random list.

How do you know if you've had a magical week if you dont follow it up with a barrel of trash afterwards? The man has to try. "Selling the news" is one thing; but you can also sell on the way down and still make money. He got a sponsor invite to a play in a real-a** PGA tour event. No one is going to say no to that.

A dude here was trying to tell me Block was now a living legend and people would talk about him for decades.  I mean what he did was very impressive but he didn’t win or even come close to it.  Nice story but he’ll be forgotten by July.
