G400 to G430

Anyone make the move from Ping G400 MAX or LST to the equivalent 430’s?

 

would like feedback …. Feel, forgiveness, etc

I demo'ed the 430 at my course recently, I think it was the Max. Honestly, I liked the G400 Max better. Basically as long, straighter, and I simply like the looks of the 400 better. I demo'ed the new one for a couple of rounds, and now my buddy is demo'ing it, and I think we have the same opinion. Both of us are going to stick with the G400. I don't see any reason to spend $800 or $900 (CDN) on something new if it isn't an improvement. I read all about how much more forgiving and better sounding the new one is, and I didn't find that for me. But others will likely disagree, those were just my results.

I haven't hit the 400MAX in a few years now, but demo'd the 430s and really liked them.

 

One thing i'll say is that both heads for me were very low spinning. The 430MAX for me spun lower than the Stealth, Paradym, ZX5 and my C722 with a Tensei White set to 9.5  (and this was the MAX with a RDX red)

 

The 430LST i'm not sure i was able to generate 1 revolution. It was really low launch and spin. 

 

I really liked the MAX, very forgiving and pretty long. I needed to spin it a tad more though

Hmm, I have a HZRDUS green smoke 70tx with the right tip on it for a 430 … may get zero spin per Jeff
 

After playing with a bajillion combo’s I found unicorn settings over the last 2 weeks …   LST 10* head, set at +1 degree to 11*, No back weight, 46.25” plays d7 … high smooth dirty bombs with the ZF

 

maybe I just need another 400LST head?  Sold a back up MAX head to a buddy

Cracked the head on mine finally the other day. Finished the round and played another full round and I swear it's hotter now than it ever was. I put the backup head in the bag but I'm going to keep playing the cracked one til the face caves or I notice a drastic drop-off.

I thought about upgrading from the original g400 (the one before the max came out) to a g430, but after hitting the 430 and 430 lst on a launch monitor with several different shafts I didn't see any discernable gains over my current 400 gamer. I guess it's at least another year with the original for me.

Hit them both today, spin only 1900 with both, not overly impressed @MtlJeff

 

i much prefer the feel of the 400 series

 

will hunt down another 400 LST head and put a 400 tip on my green HZRDUS 70tx to screw around with in my 400 max head 

 

also, am I losing my mind … $849 CDN with a stock shaft … GTFOH

I told you! Super low spin....I still hit the Max pretty well though, but was like 2200rpm with a mid launch shaft

 

The G430 LST looked like the leaf at the beginning of Forrest Gump. I was like "what's my numbers on that good sir" and the fitter was like " 0 RPM, in fact i was able to read the label on the ball the entire flight" .....ah!

Loved the G400 Max.  Sold and bought another one 3 times.  And I never found anything else I liked as much.

 

I went to a custom club fitter this March. I hit every new driver. The G430 and TSR2 bubbled to the top. After some head to head comparisions, the G430 won out. I love it more the the G400 Max, something I thought I'd never say.

 

I did not like the G430 FW nearly as much.  Which was disapointing.

G430LST was quite a bit faster/longer than G400LST with my swing on my GC4. G410/425/430 all pretty similar.

Switched from G400 Max, which I thought would never leave the bag, to a G430 LST and could not be happier. IMO the only difference in the two are the 430 sounds and feels better than the 400 Max. I find the forgiveness to be very similar as my miss is out on the toe. The 430 LST performs very well with slight misses in the toe direction. For what it's worth, I sold both of the 400 Max heads I had on the bay with no regert (lol).

Oh baby, it shouldn’t work but the smoke green 70tx 6.5 is soooo good in my g400 max turned up to 11.5*

My wife has the G400 Max.

 

That driver is so good, it's hard to spend money on a brand new driver model. If I had to get a new(ish) driver today, I'd personally be looking hard at a used G400 Max head...

Well I played today with a buddy with the g430 max.  Hit it 3 times after nuking drives with my 400 max

 

it was 9-12 yards longer all 3 times, high easy draws

 

friend had it set at 10.5 and flat, with a fuji pro 60s

 

clearly, the Golf Town sims are trash … spin was fine and not too low

 

is ten yards worth $800 CDN?  My buds think it would be longer if I used one of my shafts at 46” and D7.

The 430 max with a tipped ventus black 5x was money at range today

toe weight, flat, +1* loft

I own a G400 Max and tried the 430 Max both indoors sim and outdoors U try with Global Golf for about 3 - 4 games last month. I love the feel and the look of the 430 Max. I owned the 410 Plus and the 425 Max as well and I kept coming back to 400. This is my 7th 400 Max I think. lol They are almost the same in distance and forgiveness. Based on my Shot Scope I did not really gain any strokes off the tee using the 430 compared to 400.

 

Anyway I got fit at Golf Town and was told that I am not gaining anything if I change to the 430 Max. Fitter told me that if I want a shiny new toy then by all means buy the 430. Other than that, that is it. So I stuck with my 400 for the whole summer. Then I found a discounted 430 Max at Global Golf for $677, almost brand-new. I might just buy it now. 

 

I think the bnew 430 costs $900 with taxes in. Crazy.

(I have two G430 Max’s and love them both. Unfortunately, back surgery two weeks ago and won’t be playing until spring!!)

I really want to try my Zf 60x in the 430 but don’t want to ruin my Excalibur combo in the 400 max

The difference is in spin reduction - had to play 9* in 400 to keep spin in check.

 

I can loft up to 10.5* in the 430 and reduce spin - its a keeper

Compared to the 400 max, 430 max spins a bit less and sounds a lot better. Zero complaints from me. It’s been awesome.

I have the 400 max, and I hit the 430 max during a fitting day at our course. The Ping rep told me to keep the 400. I thought the 430 felt kind of dead compared to the 400. I hit the 10.5 in both, the 430 with several shafts, and the 400 hit it higher and longer vs every combination of the 430.

I would like to buy a 10.5 g400 for long term. In NZ the prices are high reflecting the goat status......ps how much longer are these than a Well Hit Rapture V1 may i ask? Genuine Question🤔

In my opinion, these aren’t distance monsters 

they’re consistent as hell and crazy forgiving.

I still have my rapture v1, v2 was longer and way better on toe misses

I’m going to order a Zf 50 tx for the 430 max head so I can compare apples to apples

 

in my round today I hit some great drives with the 430 ventus combo … but I love the kick of my Zf so much in the 400 … it’s like crack for a golf junkie

 

… and the Diamana ZF feels similar to my Excalibur 3 and 7 wood shafts, a couple of older blueboards and whiteboards

For me nothing has been longer than the Rapture V1, that thing was a beast! I've heard so many good things about the V2 but never hit one. Always been tempted to buy one to give it a try but never did. Been gaming the g400 max for quite a while now but getting seriously tempted by the TSR2.
