Looking for suggestions of your favorite old fairway wood to try.....

I'm going to buy something cheap at SS on Friday over my 5-wood phobia...but open to suggestions of stupid easy to hit 4 or 5 woods....

 

Maybe a G20...but open to suggesteions...

Doesn't get much easier to hit than original Adams Tight Lies ... Pings are a good bet ... V Steels might be the GOAT.

Not sure how cheap you can get it but take a look at the TSR2 4W. It’s a few years old and I got one this year and love it. It’s the first fairway wood I hit well the majority of the time, off the tee and deck.

I have an Adam's (I think) Redline RPM that found it's way back into my bag 2 years ago, it is easy to hit out of most lies and goes like a beast when struck solid.   It replaced a Ping G 3 wood which I still carry but rarely use as the redline is virtually as long.

Redline is a 5 wood approx 19 deg.  Ping is a 3 wood turned up to 16 deg

Titleist 904F 17 degree. Hot carpenter steel face. Great distance.

Ping G25 ( fixed hosel) is ridiculously easy to hit. I have a 4W. I still play it from time to time. It is still pretty long but more importantly carbon copy results. Very consistent. 
 

Taylor Made RBZ; it should’ve been named Cannon. 
 

Ping G425 Max- Stand by for launch. Easy to use, long, consistent. Not exactly cheap but still a good value.

Adams Ovation Tight Lies (the 2004ish refresh of the original Tight Lies) is mindlessly easy to hit, any non-terrible (read: massive early hip extension) swing will result in a PW trajectory shot, I feel guilty using it

Ping G25 is miles better than G20. owned the G20 and it was just meh but demoed the 25 and it was the easiest launching fairway wood I've ever hit. Never got around to buying one. Runner up goes to Titleist TS2. My friend has one and I have demoed it extensively. I've never hit a bad shot with it and it is very long even turned up to 17.5*. Third place goes to my TEE XCG 6 3 wood. Pretty forgiving and has a heavy tungsten sole that makes getting the ball up pretty easy. The titanium face makes it sneaky long. Every now and then I'll catch one on the screws that goes as long as my driver.

I have an older Ping G25 that really, really good.  Also, cheaper and older, is the Cleveland Quadpro.  The Quadpro may be the best feeling and longest fairway wood I've ever hit.  See my posts in the "best shots of your golfing career" for more details.

That's truly the one club I regret not getting.  I tried the Stage 2 and really didn't get along with it. 

 

But the RBZ headshape....something I absolutely regret not getting.

Adams Tight Lies 2013 were super easy to hit. I played those for 8-9 years. My new Tour Edge E722 are also stupid easy to hit. My driver adapter got loose and I had to use my E722 4 wood off the tee box for a few holes. I was kinda surprised how good/long it was off the tee too.

I have an adams tight lies two titanium, 19*. It's terrific I just wish I could find a 7 wood to gap it. It sits square, is shallow and not to big and I live it, can hit it low and super high

TM 200 Steel, TM 300 series Titanium are great FW's that you can buy for almost nothing.

Another vote for the TM V-Steels. Nike VR Pro LTD Edition fairways are great as well. Especially if you prefer bonded clubheads.
