Bamboo is a Stronger Golf Tee?

I bought a 1000 count bag of bamboo golf tees. I was under the impression bamboo would be stronger and last longer than a typical wood golf tee. 
 

I haven’t tried them with a driver and golf ball yet but I pulled one out to feel how strong it was and it broke doing a small stress test.  

 

It’s not a big deal, as they were cheap, and not worth returning or replacing. 
 

I’m just curious if this is what should be expected for bamboo tees.

I tried some and thought they were weak. I rarely snap a tee with driver and I've broke each one of the bamboo I tried.  Plain white, wood tees for this guy.

In dry conditions any wood tee snaps in my experience. I bought some bamboo tees last year from AMZ. They seemed no different than any other wood tee.

I use the Champ Fly tee's. They don't break and in my experience they don't leave marks on the clubs.

The last time I bought bamboo tees, they were breaking more often than a regular wood tee. I noticed that the grain of the bamboo was running across the tee, not straight down the length of the tee like bamboo tees that I had in the past, that were in fact more durable.

Bamboo makes for a poor tee as they shatter on almost every shot.  Their only good attribute is that bamboo is easily grown.  Even good wood tees seem to be hard to find.  I switched a few years ago to these as they last a long time.  I can go weeks with the same 3 tees (one long, one med, one short) in my pocket unless I lose one.  They eventually break, but it takes a lot of hits.  A box of 30 will last me a couple of years.

I like the hardwood tees from Western Birch, depending on how I'm swinging I can go through 1-3 tees a round, half the time they don't snap I just deform the cup too much hitting it with the driver.

I steal as many tees as I can from friends' country clubs and hoard them like an old lady hoards soy sauce packets.

I like these, and the orange ones for fairway wood/iron tee shots.

The only thing I've found close to as durable as these are the Western Birch ones.

Never had any issues with bamboo tees.  I usually lose them before I break them.

I bought a bag of bamboo tees once and they were almost single use. I'd never buy them again.

 

I think Western Birch makes the best wood tees on the market today.

I’ve been using only bamboo tees for several years now, and if there’s any difference in durability vs wood tees, I can’t tell it, and I’d stop using them if there were.

Plastic tees are the way to go and more durable.

Totally agree. Plus no paint residue on sole.

I agree but not all are durable.  I broke plastic tees that are really stiff and rigid and tend to get brittle in colder temperatures but I have yet to break one that gives some bend to it, especially at those temperatures.

 

I bought 100 plastic tees that have some give to them about 7 years ago and have yet to break them.  If I have to buy more of them, it is because I lost them during rounds.

Western Birch is all I'll be using going forward, they're the best

I agree.  Those tees are made of plastic and are impossible to break as they don't shatter and break under stress, but bend.

I bought their black box last year but don't see it on their site at the moment, hopefully it comes back but have plenty for now.

I'm not a fan of plastic tees, as they aren't biodegradable and I certainly loose tees randomly.  I've found some bamboo tees to be pretty durable, but the last bag I bought hasn't been great.  I prefer natural wood, so they don't leave marks.

Quit using wooden tee's a few years for tee shots. went with the "Four More Yards" tee's but the prongs tended to not hold up for more than a few rds.

Just go with the "Circus" tee's now, very durable hard rubber or soft plastic feel.

Obviously not "cool" enough for WRXers but I only have to carry a couple in.my bag. Easy to spot on the ground, current one is yellow with red top

The club where I belong has free plastic tees. I’ve been a member for 4 years, and I haven’t grabbed any free tees for well over 3 years. People don’t seemed interested in picking up their free tees, and I find a bunch on the course.
