TM must be happy shes testing one of their drivers again after that stealth fiasco

It must be a such a nightmare trying to keep golfers happy, especially ones that are very particular. You think you've nailed it, player is happy, write a big blog post detailing how they found her "unicorn", then it gets dropped mid tournament for the "old" brand. I'd be gutted if I was involved in any of that process since it's all about confidence and very little about the actual product performance at that level. The blog post was really interesting though, hearing that some players *never* want to see a fade or even a straight ball hah.

Love my Paradym TD but after hearing that the Qi10 line will be 10k MOI, it has me drooling.  I can miss all over the face on bad days but mostly miss toe side.  10k MOI looks promising.  It's always the arrow, never the Indian.  😁

Nelly went back to her Titleist TSR1 driver over the summer.

She certainly did.  This is a photo I took at AIG women’s Open.  What is interesting is her normal loft is 9 degrees (shown in photo) but it looks like she is trying 10.5.  Is this another “loft up” driver?

Interesting - Acro SteelFiber shafts in her irons. Personally haven't yet even considered any sort of graphite in irons, but have a friend that recently started playing Aerotechs (a single digit cap that is just in his early 50s, so doesn't need then 'cause he's old or something). Swears by them. Wonder if the technology is reaching the point where they'll become a thing.

Tons of LPGA players use them. Steelfiber pretty much has the market cornered (In the NA market, anyway) on graphite iron shafts and only recently in the last 2-3 years have the big shaft brands introduced their models; MMT, Axiom, etc.

I learn something new here every day. I did play a friend's set of graphite shafted irons a some years ago (I was visiting, and it was his spare set he had bought on a whim to try), and really, really didn't like them. They certainly were lighter, and slightly longer, but I was spraying all over the place, and (most important) I felt like I lost my sense of connection to the clubhead. (This is difficult to express, and I get that it is entirely subjective, but is significant in my game).

I do watch the LPGAT a lot. And often videos of their swings. At my age, my own game has far more in common with the women's game. Similar swing speeds, distances (and hence similar approach to course management and shot choices). Their game is the perfected version of my game. I do love watching the PGAT, but those guys are now just in another universe. When I see guys easily flying 300 yard bunkers off the tee, or someone 225 out grab a freaking 5 iron (which is around my 5 wood distance), or 150 out with a wedge ... well, it is incredibly fun to watch, but I can't even remotely relate to it personally.

That said, I haven't paid that much attention to the LPGAT WITBs. I know that a handful of guys use graphite on the PGAT, but they are more of an anomaly. Just did some checking here however, and it appears that over a quarter of the LPGAT have now gone to graphite, including a number of the top 50.

So I may have to give them another look. Not least because it occurs to me the technology has probably advanced considerably since the last time I fiddled with them. At the time, dispersion was my main problem. I just couldn't control the damn things. And if I remember right, that was kind of their reputation. But if that many LPGAT women are adopting them - I have to rethink my opinion. The professional women's game tends to place more emphasis on precision with short and mid irons than on the monster distances of the men's tours. So if that many of the girls are starting to bag them, it means real technical strides have to have been made in terms of accuracy.

Thx @third-times-a-charm.

So she’s carrying two 5 irons and two 6 irons? One P770 and one P7MC in each?

Course dependent I wonder or testing?

The steelfiber shafts have been around since 2008, iirc it’s the same good quality shaft since then.

edit: whatever your friend had maybe was something different and graphite iron shafts aside from steelfiber haven’t been great in stability

Do you play them? Just curious - due to this thread, I'm going to start paying more attention. Will have to do a WRX "steelfiber" search.

If they do, indeed, provide advantages and mitigate the dispersion disadvantages, I'm wondering why more LPGAT women aren't playing them, and why they are nearly non-existent (or at least nowhere near the 25% LPGAT adoption rate) on the PGAT.

I have the black label 110 in my irons and they are incredible. Super smooth and super stable. Will never go back.
