The funny thing is that based on the shaft in that 3w and the lack of a ferrule on Callaway adaptors, i'd bet it's a pull from his old Nike 3w and the "ferrule" is covering shaft prep.

I daresay Mr Reed would fit right in here on WRX

We have:
- Custom putter
- Ping G400 driver, bonus points for lead tape
- Bodged ferrule job
- Boutique japanese forged irons, double bonus points for lead taping these!
- Mixed brand wedges
- Even the wedges that are same brand are different models, bonus points for raw finish

- Wedges stamped with different loft than standard

- Ultra low bounce lob wedge

- Prototype wedges

 

Surely this bag is WRX hall of fame worthy?

So I actually stuck a chunky ferrule like this on a Callaway fairway adapter and noticed this:



From address these are actually the "lines" you see. Callaway Optifit Fairway adapters have a really pronounced taper to them and the lack of ferrule can make the whole package look a little strange if you're used to more "traditional" looking hosels. I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck this ferrule on there to hide shaft prep and Patrick actually noticed it looked better at address this way and left it.

Plus when you have a fat neck....
