Anybody Gaming "Old" Clubs (Pre-2006)

While they are not my full-time gamers, I have a soft spot for my nickel ISI's and they get some bag time as a good change of pace from my G15's.

Even though they are not my gamers I will play and practice with my Hogan Apex plus's love the feel of the hogan forged irons,I also game an original
rapture 21 degree hybrid I also have a redwood anser putter I recived in the fall of 2006

Eye 2+ BeCu irons and wedges in the bag. My set was built in 1995. They're like old friends.

A Ping 'My Echo' putter spends a lot of time in the bag, circa 1970's. It still rolls the ball better than any of my Camerons. A BeCu Anser 4 spends most of its time in the basement.

My J33 3 wood kicked my Adams F11 Ti out of the bag, just hit it so good and long.

Eye 2 or S59 irons (these won't wear out so i doubt i'll ever buy irons again)
V-steel and T60 fw's (still long and strong)
Eye 2 wedges (idiot proof short game + won't wear out)
Fat lady swings putter or BECU Anser 2 (both 90's)

Hybrid and driver are newer but still 4-5 years old.

It seems like a handful of tour players still opt for the 690MBs even a decade later. I have not hit them but I'll have to try them out one of these days.

Was (and may again) playing Callaway X-12s, which were 99MY, I got in 2000. Although last month I picked up a really good deal on some X-18s. So I've upgraded to 2005 now.

Irons are Adams GT2, circa 2005. Woods are all 2004 Cleveland Launcher. Cleveland Tour Action 588 wedges, made in 03 or 04. Rossa Daytona 1-02, 2004. My driver is a last year's Adams Speedline.

I've gamed a few old sets, maruman 31ex irons, 690mb, Titleist Tour model and currently have Mizuno ms-5 (but they are going this week)

Still looking to rebuild the classic bag from my junior days, but its pretty hard to find the exact models/spec from 20 years ago.

Have a lot of good memories in the old clubs though.

I got custom fitted for Titleist 712 AP1s. I have the ball striking capabilties/game for less forgiving irons (AP2, CBs), but I have always been of the mind set of why not get a little extra forgiveness for those off days. I think the looks of the AP1s are superior to the X-14 PS. Also, they are about a club longer, but I think most of that has to do with being custom fit with the correct shaft (C-tapers S+).

I need a newer driver obviously since you can get one cheap, but the rest of my clubs are fine. Hybrid maybe...the 3 and 4 iron shots I'm hitting now after not playing for 19 years are NOT pretty.

Someone bought a 5-PW of my irons for 33 bucks on ebay recently. For forged clubs with project x shafts, that's a pretty good deal.

I still have MP-14's(2-PW) in the bag, had the loft adjusted a degree stronger last month. Also have an old Anser 2, Titleist 983K driver and original Snake Eyes SW. Couldn't be happier with them. My 3W is a Tour Edge Exotics CB4 and I have a Mizuno Fli-Hi cut muscle hybrid. Not sure when they originally entered the market place.

Well ... I have to say ... I just shot my personal best round EVER this last weekend with my set of Pavlet hand-me-down Phil Mickelson Yonex's ... 4I to LW. I couldnt believe it ... Gotta be what ... 11-12 years old ... I have no idea ... but good lord are they good

 

 

I did have a RHT for BIGDOG that day though ... Technically POST-2006 ;)

Lots of love for Hogan irons in here, I have a set of Apex Plus I play as a practice/backup set. I still use a Titleist 975k also as my only driver, I don't like the 460cc and there are very few new offerings that aren't 460. And I think the price of new clubs are crazy and the club really doesn't even matter.

Only I one club, but it's not leaving the bag for quite some time. 2005 Cleveland Launcher steel 13*. I did reshaft it this year with a PX 6.0 and it's a dead on monster from the fairway or the tee.

Rotate three sets, MP29's, 33's and 60/32 combo. Old TM Rac Fe2O3 wedges, TM 200 tour Ridgetop 3 wood, older Titleist 5 wood. Heritage Tour Putter from 2006 may be my newest club, coincedently. Will be buying a newer driver this spring though.
