Not surprised. Callaway is going after younger players to gain more appeal with the young golf population that typically doesn't play their equipment.

How do you get this info??
I never could understand why Callaway was always considered "for old guys". But I work part time for a DSG in the golf department, and literally every 50+ male that comes into the store, I can just b-line it to the Callaway section and meet him there... every time.
It is because they built their brand when those guys were younger, playing stuff like the the berthas, etc.
Exactly what I was getting ready to say as well. They lead the charge in forgiving woods and irons back then. Bertha woods were flat out revolutionary in their day.

Dalaet won't be wearing orange or any crazy colors if he goes Cobra/Puma.. he's already the best Canadian player he doesn't need more attention than that.

Yeah cuz Sligo is so muted...

Hmmm, When I think of people wearing flashy clothing (or things that just stick out and not match) I think of Fowler, Dalaet (i remember some bright blue/yellow plaid pants), Poulter, Daly and Sergio (he has to get dressed in the dark sometimes).

Hale Irwin is pushing 70 these days, but the guy is still an AMAZINGLY pure ball-striker! GF and I followed him around for most of the round at the Champions event at Des Moines this year, and he was giving himself tons of opportunities, and just burning edges for most of the day. Wakonda is a really old-school traditional tree-lined kind of course, so it really didn't surprise me to see him contend there. Looks very good and fit for his age as well.

Anyone else hear Henrik Stenson to Cally in 2014? That would be a huge addition to the stable after the year he just had.
They just had a good shot of him hitting a Callaway wedge on one of the last few holes.

Stenson Plays Callaway Legacy Black Forged irons and still carries Callaway fairway woods

Stenson with callaway before he went to srixon he's got ten cally clubs already
Callaway may go with 10 clubs but they won't want him without those two clubs he is missing. To be with Cally the driver and putter are mandatory! He would have to break or buyout his Piretti putter contract. As small as they are what would they prefer, a nice stash of cash or the notoriety, credibility, and PR of having the hottest player in the world right now and the only person to win what he did on both the PGA and Euro Tours in the same year. If they are sound financially they won't want to lose him. I don't know that Callaway is willing to the hill to buy him for what could be a steep price. . . . now if his putter agreement is year to year then that could change quickly.
I am not aware of Stenson's current contractual obligations and considerations

It's a good look for them to start projecting that younger image for sure, and they really put some horses in their stable. The asian players they have and have picked up recently are some studs. That's another thing I noticed, Callaway is rockstar status in Asia.
It's just the turn of the calendar combined with brand loyalty, I guess.

Callaway made the big splash with the Big Bertha, and then the Great Big Bertha. And, near legendary customer service (which seems to have fallen off in the post-Ely Callaway world). The guys who really bought in to Callaway then are now 20 years older, but I'm guessing you're seeing the loyalists who bought in to that brand in a big way in the 90s, and haven't gone anywhere else since.

Total guess, obviously.

Unrelated comment: like seeing MCoz posts again. Regularly enjoyed them years ago on another forum, glad to see him still around, serving the goods...

Callaway losing Phil to TMAG would be a pretty big loss, imo.

And Ernie to Adams?!? That feels like it came out of left field...
Philly Mick was playing an SLDR at Presidents Cup. No way I could see him leaving for TMAG unless they broke the bank for him..they have wayy too many pros to pay the kind of money Phil is worth.

If one of these established tour stars absolutely loved their equipment would they take less to stay with their current company instead of taking the highest bidder? I know in the case of Rory the money difference between what Nike was offering and what Titleist would offer was probably too big, but lets take for example a player like Rose. He just won his first major and is playing great. Is the difference between these offers that large to mess with changing the equipment your totally comfortable with?
Well in the case of TMAG he has to get used to hitting a new driver every 3-6 months haha
