Viktor Hovland

What can I say? I am so proud to be a norwegian today. Hovland is in the US amateur final after having played extraordinary golf for several days. This is the greatest norwegian male golf feat ever - and not bad on an international scale either IMO.

This is why I love golf as a global game. Someone like Viktor has an opportunity to provide motivation and inspiration to junior players in Norway. You are right to be proud. Good luck to him in the final.

Should be a great match tomorrow - both guys playing well and easy to root for. Hovland has just been a machine, though - I think I like his chances.

Listening to Bling on GC right now, really liking the cut of his jib - will be pulling for the underdog!

Both seem pretty cool customers, and nice guys, but it's TV.

My alma mater and where I played for a few years. Had the chance to meet him this year and followed him in the NCAA finals. It’s a great group of guys at OSU right now and VH in particular is a really good dude.

Just a question, do schools give incentives to these guys representing their colleges? Would be cool to see Viktor rep all Norwegian attire.

I do not live there, but family came from Norway, have always rooted for them (love x-country skiing in Olympics).

I am a huge fan of Vik, have bee following him. He was a stud in the NCAA's also. I really hope to see him on Tour in the next few years.

I was talking about this with a friend earlier today.

I said, "That guy Hovland from Sweden looks like he's going to win the USGA, doesn't he?"

    My mate goes, "No way?"

And I go, "Yeah, he's playing really well. Could be the first winner from Sweden, too."

    And he goes "No way?"

And I say "you're a bit repetitive today, aren't you? Anyway, great to see a winner from Sweden."

And he goes again, "No way".

So I hit him. I mean, really.

Hovland had no accent! I wouldn't have known he was from Norway had I not been informed.

Also, what is that goofy character on the shirt/cap? College mascot?

It would be perfect if Cole gamed the Hammer Driver. Jack would be proud. I smell a sponsorship in the works...

That's the downside. But Scandinavia is also not very crowded, a lot of space to build golf courses, and the courses are seldom private, expensive or snobbish.

A lot of people find golf accessible here compared to continental and islandal Europe, as it seems. But ok october-march isn't a super time for golf in the Stockholm area... a golf week in Spain is standard in December if you can afford it.

Great job by Fox. I tuned into the start of us amateur championship and on the very first hole they show, one competitor is 5 down. Just fantastic.
