No Greg, you may NOT take a picture of my driver.
Is that a wear spot on the putter or is it paint?
If he still has the LTD driver in the bag then it's a pretty clear statement (to me anyway) that the F9 and SZ are not a major step forward in technology...
Took the Artisan wedges out too
Why does his 4-5w say 8* ?
Guessing the LTD driver is under that head cover and the Artisan wedges probably weren't allowed to be shot either.
Missing those super secret Artisan wedges. I guess he doesn't want to publicly let that cat out of the bag.
Probably used a driver loft labeled adapter
Fairway: Taylormade M3 3HL w/ Diamana ZF 80TX
Hybrid: Srixon H85 w/ ProjectX Hzrdus Black 85S
Irons: Miura CB57 4-PW w/ Fujikura Pro 115s
Wedges: Artisan 51º, 56º, 61º
Putter: Artisan 0117
Why does his 4-5w say 8* ?
Special secret squirrel settings ?
I love that a pro is doing the less than <14 thing. What a good example.
Welding on that putter looks really odd.
I think it is because they had to make it sooo upright for him.
I still reckon his college bag is the coolest WITB ever on here.
On cobra clubs the loft marking is on the adapter rather than on the head...at least before the F9 series. They use the exact same adapter, just with different markings for different loft settings, so he must have taken a driver shaft and put it in the FW and cut it down....8* is probably the lowest loft setting, which woulds correspond to ~16* in that head. Clear as mud? not surprising they went to a similar system to other OEMs with +/- instead of an actual loft number.
Unless you swing exactly like Bryson (which I highly doubt), it shows nothing and should mean nothing to us as far as if the new product is "better". Using PGA Professionals as the gauge of what we should think about new products is the worst idea.
Bryson is a robot, he replicates his swing and hits it on the nut every time. if someone like this doesn't get better numbers with new equipment then this seems pretty relevant. it may mean nothing for how it performs for us common folk but it I think we can take away that if Bryson isn't the beneficiary of any ground breaking technology with the SZ it may not be that special or a huge upgrade. The TM/Callaway guys all seemed to have embraced SIM/Mavrik without missing a beat. wouldn't call it the 'worst' idea to question this.
Do we know what size jumbomax grips he's using?
thats not true and you know that. F9 was one of the best Drivers coming out the last5-10 years.
bryson just want to control everything and he knows his LTD Driver better than idk, but his philosophy is reproducibility (hope that word exists) and so he likes what he knows and works...
by the way, these jumbo grips look ugly af
Bryson is not a robot nor does he "hit on the nut every time". If that were the case, he would win more than he does. Bryson is a professional golfer, who is very talented and that's about as far as that goes. Groundbreaking technology? Your expectations of these companies year after year is a bit high? Nobody is going to be bringing groundbreaking technology. Callaway with their AI Face still isn't groundbreaking, though they've spent millions and will tell you it is. PGA Pros do always put the new product in play right away. Kevin Kisner is still using the Great Big Bertha from years back. It means nothing of new technology. Go watch TXG's videos on the new Cobra and you'll see it has made some improvements over last years. It may not be something Bryson needed, which is why we should never use someone else as our benchmark. None of us swing the same as the other.
That’s sik! Hogan eye on the putter.
I'm sure he hits it more consistently than a random lefty on txg who tests clubs. not trying to bicker but cobra can't be happy about it and if it was such a great club it would be in the bag without hesitation. yes everyone should go test clubs and figure out what fits their game the best.
sweet bag there.
Yup, what he said. No secret sauce, just an adapter with driver loft text instead of fairway.
The F9 got a lot of marketing hype but if you played it you know it's not that good. I gamed two different F9s last season and could not get it to perform. If you pay attention to the F9 threads on here you will see a lot of people bought into the hype like myself and regretted it. Very low ball speeds on mis hits and tons of spin anywhere on the face. I even had mine hot melted to try to drop the spin. Couldn't do it. They are all over the BST forum. Every test I have seen with the SZ produces identical numbers to the F9, so if you didn't like the F9 you probably won't like the SZ. Considering how much attention Bryson pays to his equipment and how much attention the fans pay to his equipment this should be very concerning for Cobra.
I honestly still believe the LTD Pro is one of the best drivers ever released. Stands up to nearly every new driver on the market. The center of gravity in that driver I believe is one of the lowest of all time. Honestly it's probably the best driver I have ever played in terms of controlling spin and still being quite forgiving. In true WRX fashion though...of course I sold mine to tinker with something else lol
That driver is a true UNICORN, IMO.
Just 3 wedges out of the pic. He’d play 25 clubs if you let him. Lol.
I know, haha. It would that, Or more. And need a Sherpa to carry his bag.
This is hyperbole. My experience was exactly the opposite. Just because a few others share your opinion, it doesn’t make it universally true. I’m sure just as many would not agree with your blanket statement.
Driver: TaylorMade M5 10.5° | HC Evenflow Black 65 3wd: Titleist TS2 15° (C1) | Diamana D+ LTD 70Hybrid: Callaway X2Hot Pro 18°| AD-DI 85Irons: Mizuno MP 20 HMB 4 iron | AD-DI 95 / MP 20 MMC 5-PW | PX Catalyst 100Wedges: Vokey SM7 raw 48°F (Handground S), 54°S, 58°V | KBS 610Putters: Byron Morgan DH 89
I’m not sure Cobra is unhappy. They are doing better and better every year, more people are giving them a chance and they are at a better price point. I think Cobra likes the position they are in and if Bryson doesn’t put a new driver in plat right away, they most likely aren’t losing sleep over it. My entire point was we, as amateurs, should not use pros as a gauge of whether a new product is worth testing or not.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Cobra. Have the lime green BioCell driver, orange BioCell 3/4 wood, AmpCell Hybrid, and the LTD.
I'm looking for a good reason to upgrade to the F9, especially with prices now at a reasonable levels.
Normally don't take much notice of a pro putting a new driver in play, but this is "The Scientist" we're talking about and when he puts one in play then takes it out of play and then hits the old driver 360 at Dubai, that get's my attention.
