How’s your golf going this year?

Recommended Posts

I’m in the beginning of major swing changes so my golf is all range time ...zero confidence in my game right now. Our family reunion is in 3 weeks and golf is a big part of it. Sure don’t want to go back to my old swing so I’ve got a lot of work to do. Hope you have a speedy recovery OP!

Took lessons for the first time this year and now my swing is back to where it was about 2 years ago. I really struggled last year.

The best thing I have done in the five years of golfing was buy one length irons, I now hit my Cobra F9 irons way more consistently and good yardages too. Iron play was always my weakest part, but with that now turned into a safe green in regulation I can say I am having so much fun playing golf again =]

We just got hit with 4-25 inches of snow the other day in South Dakota. Looks like golf season is going to be extremely short this year.

Almost broke par from the sticks for the first time in about 6 years. Was 1-under going into 18 and just whiffed on a short sided flop shot with my lob wedge. Switched irons to give me something with less loft and then tried the flop again to give me a look at saving an even par round. I pulled the shot off to 5 feet and then thankfully drained the putt.

Index is now down to 1.5 after being perpetually stuck between 2 & 3.5.

What else do I have to do? Actually this Wednesday going to try to play senior tees before surgery, pain and all. Figure it’s close to a hospital and only 6 days away from the knife.

Shot a smooth 72 from the whites in the money game today. We did play LCP everywhere as apparently the guys that are supposed to be mowing the course have motivational issue. 5 birdies and 5 bogies. First time I shot par for 18, record birdies for a round for me.

Was going well on Saturday in the club compeition. +6 after 16 holes (my handicap is 8), then had an 11 on a par 4. ELEVEN SHOTS! Hit 3 into the trees on the right; 2 lost balls and an unplayable lie. Shafted my round and chance of bringing my handicap down.

One thing I learnt from Saturday is that my play from 80yds and in is abysmal. It's something I desperately need to work on. I gave myself so many good chances from the fairway but didn't take them. Putting was superb.

Still just raining literally everyday here, getting out when we can and plugging and losing drives in the fairways. Ya know when ya walk and water shoots out from under your foot and straight accross hitting your opposite ankle and dripping down into your shoe. Thats how the season is going here still. Haha have been playing decently though when we can get out.

I live in UK and we've had it that bad in the past, but recently it's been so dry where I live that it's nigh-on impossible stopping it on the greens they are so firm. Anything down wind and you have no chance. Makes it really fun playing though. I just need to keep those 11s off the card!

has been going fine. just fine. haven’t played in a little over a week due to weather and family activities ,the wheels fell of my driver that had been going quite well, was only able to play 9 holes but after 4 driver holes. i chose hybrid and 5 irons for the rest that needed a little distance to fairway find.

hope to get out a few days in a row and put up some decent scores again hitting from the fairway was so nice!

Well best of luck. Both on the course and on the table.

I don't really have anyone in my life that will care about this besides my playing partner, which is why I'm using this thread:

I've basically abandoned my driver at don't know why I didn't do it sooner as I am absolutely murdering my 3 wood off the tee right now. Not only are my tee shots not in the woods, but I hit tee shots of 271 and 285 yards this weekend, which is pretty unreal for me. The latter was a little downhill, but the first was dead flat. Obviously that includes some roll, but both of those drives were longer than any driver shot I've hit on those holes. The only reason I know the exact yardage is because I knew I absolutely crushed the ball and so I used the little measuring function of my GPS device to figure it out.

I don't think I have the time to really figure out that I'm doing wrong with my driver, and I feel so confident with the 3 wood that I feel like that'd be time wasted. Maybe I'll go back to the Bertha Mini 1.5 that I have gathering dust.

Still struggling with swing changes from over the winter. Gets a little better then a gopher ball magically appears. Still working on fundamentals as a lot changed from my old swing, although the old swing still creeps in quite a bit. Takes a really long time to ingrain the new swing. Rounds haven't been that good but starting to make better contact and hearing that 'compressed ball sound' at times so that's encouraging.

After a couple of rounds in this season... I've hit some really good shots... but as I get tired I hit some awful ones too... but my putting has been saving me so far... can't remember the last time that has happened

Golf is a funny sport where you can shoot even par one week and have the shanks the next week. Well, that's been my game lately. Striping it one day and shooting rockets off the hosel the next.

Shanks mean your golf swing is close to being perfect. I don't get them because...... I had a rough Memorial Day golfing. If it wasn't for my short game I would have been toast. I still shot 44, my average. All over the toe on every thing, the exact opposite of shanking.
