Interesting that the Wilson HT (Hi Toe) has the same 18 grooves that the TM's tour heads have as opposed to the 19 grooves that the standard TM Hi Toes have. I wasn't aware of that before.

Those irons are such sleepers, and the raw finish makes them just a little better (IMO). I can’t keep mine out of my bag, no matter how many shiny and new latest and greatest make their way through the rotation.

 

I’d love to see how they’d do in a blind test against more popular irons.

Too much gimmick around their driver releases recently. And I really just can’t tell much difference, aesthetically, between WS’s game improvement woods/hybrids and their stuff aimed at better players. Do they even have woods/hybrids aimed at better players? Some of their stuff looks alright, but I’ve never seen a WS wood and thought “DAMN!, that’s sweet!”. It’s a shame, I’m sure their stuff performs well for many types of player (I know a friend and regular playing partner of mine who bought a Cortex and so far loves it, and he is a good player). They just don’t seem interested in getting in the driver arms race, and all that comes with it (advertising, endorsements, etc.).

 

One thing I can say, though, is their woods have been coming with high-end shafts as stock. So, at least there is some reason to keep an eye on Wilson for their woods - to watch for when the price drops below the “value” of the shaft.

"My Golf $py" has an interesting article on the state of W/S with President Tim Clarke. W/S hit rock bottom in 2006, while selling at a loss. They focused early R&D efforts on irons and wedges--and it now shows. Woods shouldn't be too far behind although I really like the FG Tour F5 series

I don't think Wilson is close on Woods. If you can't get your own staffers to play it, you're not close.
