Woot doesn't do that. I order all kinds of items from them and this is the first time I had any type of stock issue.

It took me 5 emails and a threat to contact local texas police but I finally got my refund. It's sad that you have to threaten them to get action.
Wow...overreact much?
Think about it from a different perspective. If just on this one item they held on to $100 from 100 people for a month, they're making interest on that money. Now multiply that by the number of items that they sell that they can't fulfill and you have potentially millions of dollars that we have loaned them and all they do is to return our money to us after they have used it. If anyone wants to send $100 and I'll return it to you in a month or so, feel free to do that.
you are completely wrong here. A - They probably don't even get the money from the CC company till like a month or so later B - Even if they got the money the same day as they charged your card and earned 1% (extremely generous estimation, probably closer to .1%) 100 people spending $100 is $10,000. 1% interest on 10k for one month is a WOPPING $8.33. So the answer to your question is NO, woot is not doing this to make some interest on your money. They probably just are slow to refund money, no conspiracy theories here.

Sorry for my typo. Don't be mad because you are wrong. It's OK to be wrong sometimes. No one will hold it against you.

Bottom line, even if woot was holding $1,000,000 by not refunding money for a month, the interest the would make on the money is negligible. That is not the reason they are not refunding money quickly.
Hmmm...you might need to explain why we get deposits in our AMEX account 3 days after charges are made. It must be they just like us.
I'm not disputing the fact that they may get paid every 3 days. I am saying that even if they were holding $1,000,000 back (very unlikley) from refunding customers for 1 month and they had some great deal with a bank that was somehow paying them 1% on that money (extremley unlikely in this interest rate environment and probably closer to .1%) that would be a WHOPPING (Spelled correctly) $833.33. Do you really think woot is holding money back to make that insignificant amount of money?

You're only kidding yourself if you actually think the police are going to do a GD thing for you in this situation. Sad that you think threatening them like this is brag worthy.
No and I've never said that was their plan. They have inventory management issues. But I know how credit card companies and banks work. I understand cash flow, the timing of payments and the clearance of funds.

And when I'm wrong, which happens often enough, I admit it. You?
Yes, I have no problem admitting when I am wrong. For example, I am not 100% familiar with how fast CC company's pay out merchants. You tell me 3 days so I will trust you.

However, I am very familiar with cash flow and how banks work. I have my MBA and work for one of the largest banks in the world.

I agree with you (although this is not what you originally wrote) that they have inventory management issues and client service issues. That is the reason they are not refunding people quickly. It has nothing to do with holding people funds so they can make interest off that money.

Please point out where I stated that this was intentional, malicous and done with the intent to make money off Woot customers. I've never stated that was the plan but it is an unintended consequence of their inventory management issues.

Banks make money in part off of holding other people's money. That's why they pay interest.

1. Yes this is a golf forum but the specific conversation strayed away from golf

2. I was just trying to prove a point. He was the one the mentioned that he was knowledgeable about cash flows etc.
3. I never said that I was the only one on here with those credentials. Do you really think in tryibg to brag about my credentials to a bunch of anonymous people on a golf forum?

For anyone wondering about the 'dot' balls, I played a full round with a couple of them this past weekend, and they played as well or better for me than the non-dot balls. This was especially reassuring for me, as I seemed to get an inordinate amount of dot balls in my shipment from Woot. Still absolutely loving the Lethals.
