Mizuno MP-5 Blades

^^^^^ This comment could use some clarification. Mizuno A weight heads are their "standard" weight heads for standard length clubs. The B weight heads are lighter and intended to be used for over standard length clubs to keep the swingweights more "normal".

Furthermore, the A heads are used for anything up to .25" over standard...B heads for .5 and greater

Well I just took the plunge and ordered 3-5 MP 25 and 6-pw MP 5 with PX 6.5 shafts. Also ordered a 52 & 58 blue s5 wedges to match. Can't wait till they get here!!!

Haha! Probably stiffer than I need but the 6.5 is a very straight shaft for me. The Mizuno shaft optimizer has told me the same thing for like the last 7 years. X100, PX 6.5, or KBS X.

I hit these in golftown today. Super nice. But how do they work for guys who take a healthy divot with mid and short irons? I play S55 right now and the turf interaction for me is great. Mp5 play similar?

Played the MP4's for a short bit the end of the season last year.

S55s have more bounce vs. MP5s. If they are working for you, maybe stick with them? Or take your 6 iron in and compare the numbers with the MP5?

It's not that I don't like them, I do in fact like them a lot. I will say that I would probably have preferred to order a full set of 25's or just kept my AP2's.

Turf interaction was wonderful in the 5's. The only iron that I actually hit were the 7 iron and PW extensively and really loved the feel, just not low on the face which is my typical miss, not heel to toe.

They are amazing...and I guess because it's winter here anyway, in hindsight I can always just keep them.

I had a little doubt with the 5's after the first few times out, but it was colder and I think I was a bit tentative. I played 18 this morning, and just pretended I had the 64's in, was more aggressive going down through the ball. I had a great day with them today, flew long twice as I did not have the confidence early, but really hit them spot on the rest of the round. They feel so good

I am very happy , this combo will be in the bag for a while.

These MP5's are some of the nicest sticks Mizuno has
come out with. Shot another good round today, 78 for 18.
With the 1150 Nippons, this has such nice balance at a D3 SW.
Truly enhances my ability to score, very pleased.

I played a round with him in 1997, I think; he had MP-33s.

Wow! I'd be calling someone. I got mine 2 weeks ago. Took 5 days from the day I ordered. Something is wrong with 5 weeks brother!

Lol. 15 minutes after I posted this I got a call telling me that my clubs are scheduled to arrive this afternoon. 'Talk about the squeaky wheel getting the grease. 'Should have them on the course this Sunday.

Tried the 5's in the store last week. Hard not to like them. Typical mizuno blade with a little extra chunk on the topline.

Still like the MP 4's a little better though

Did a full blown fitting for the first time ever today and WOW what an awesome thing. Mizuno has a club that measures your swing characteristics and recommends a shaft based on them. With that and the awesome help from my fitter, I got a set of Mizuno MP5-MP25 Combo with 7-PW in the 5's and 4-6 in the 25's. Upgraded shafts to KBS Tour stiff flex and upgraded grips to the new GP Multi Compound both at NO CHARGE. You can't beat it folks. Feel, looks, playability you just can't beat these clubs. I'm so excited.

Played my 7th round with these and these are very solid irons. Much more forgiving than MP4s but with that classic Mizuno feel. Sold my buddy on these irons, he ordered a set after playing with him up in Seattle last weekend.

Great chance you're going to love these...I'm absolutely thrilled with mine...Might be my favorite iron they've released since the MP 32...

I only play 8-P, but they are just soooooo good. It's all there, feel, looks, workable. I hit some really good shots with mine today.

I picked up my 5's on Saturday. First impression: wow, these are beautiful irons. I thought my 64's were sweet, but the 5's top them easily. As far as my eye can tell, they're the same size and shape as the 64's, with the only major difference being the muscle back. 'Should make for an easy transition.

 

My 2nd thought was, WTF. Only one of the grips had the logo properly aligned. I've purchased numerous Mizuno sets, and this is the first time I've seen this type of sloppy work. The dealer didn't have the same grips in stock, so I'll have to make a return trip in the next few weeks to regrip them. Grrrr.

 

Took them out for the first time yesterday. My first swing with them was hitting the 8 iron on a 135 yard par 3 into a 15 mph wind coming from 2 o'clock. OMG. Pure. Butter. I swear I didn't feel the ball come off the face. 'Big 'ol draw that wound up just off the green left thanks to the wind. I wound up hitting them a handful more times, and they were fantastic. It's nice to have fresh grooves on an iron, as they checked up quite nicely.
