My oldest son played against Zach a lot in college, they were paired together often. I NEVER dreamed he could play on Tour, let alone achieve the success he has. With that being said he was a very polite young man who always conducted himself well.

Nothing but high marks for his conduct back in his college days when I watched him.

You must have seen more coverage than I did. The broadcast I got was him saying what I had quoted, then they went to another player. So I never got the whole conversation. That is probably why it looked bad.

I used to have a unfounded dislike for ZJ but met him at a charity event here in Richmond and he was a really nice guy. That was in 2009, since then I've come to appreciate his grit, especially in the Ryder Cup. That said I could do without the preaching.

While he was a good player, his skills seemed quite ordinary and far below what you would expect from someone who was going to go on to become a skilled tour player. He was not winning college events and didn't even play the #1 spot on his team. Most of the guys he played against had far more power.

His determination is to be applauded..........for he has reached a level only he saw in his game.

Us Iowa boys are a different bread. We don't have the little studs that grow up to be superstars, pretty rare here. What he has done from how good he once was is darn near a miracle. He's not really a short knocker........maybe to WRXers, 162 ball speed is not shabby. Best wedge player in the game hands down as well; him and Stricker.

He's not my favorite by any means, but I have liked him ever since he won The Masters that year it was so freekin' cold and windy, and he never once went for a par5 in 2, but made all kinds of birdies on them.

I like to see the shortknockers win won now and again.

Saw an him on an episode of Playing Lessons, or some similar program and he came off as a nice guy.

[/quote]I played with Zach in college, and the accounts are true. I hit it further, dare I say better when he was young. And...he's made $36M more than me on tour He really is a great guy.
