Well after my struggle and complaints, I old school counter balanced the shaft with lead tape under the grip.

 

Teed it up higher and absolutely smashed my G on the weekend. Long, high and low spin bombs.

 

I would keep walking to where I normally hit drives and would have to walk 10 more yards hahahah.

 

I'm liking it again.

 

I think a counter balanced shaft helps me feel the lighter head better...

Like the i25 better than the G30LS, G LS comparison is on hold until my new head comes in.

I'm doing the same thing with an I25. You can also take it to any store/club with a ping account and they will take care of it.

For anyone looking to deaden the LST sound without hot melt, 4g of lead tape completely changed the acoustics of the driver. Almost sounds like my old 910.

I hit the G LS in 9* with Tour Stiff shaft this weekend. The ball seems to rocket off the face and appears to go forever. However, it was only 3-5 yards longer than my 915 D3 at best. Many drives ended up side by side.

 

I did hit one monster drive with the G on a par five that ended up 20 yards past my normal spot, but I'm chalking that up to it being downwind that day and the ball landing on a down-slope.

 

The sound was reminiscent of the G30, but maybe not quite as loud.

 

I do love the look of the club head at address. It just seems to fit my eye well.

 

I may try it again and crank it up to 10*.

 

Thats exactly what I did with my 9* G LS, the 10* gives me just enough draw face and loft and stil perform tons of roll. GO for it.... but the face will be a wee tad closed (but when compared to many other TM heads I have had, its not that badly closed in comparison).

 

I guess Ping really built their G LS heads more on the fade bias side....

After extensive testing of the G at 10.5 in stiff Alta, the G30 at 10.5 in stiff Alta, and the G LS tec in stiff ALta, the G was definitely best for me. I was averaging 265 carry at 103-105 swing speed with average 2500 spin rate with the tightest dispersion rate (slight draw).

I should also add that the G is the most forgiving driver I have ever hit in my life.

It's what you're used to. I can tell you that my buddy just got a 9* G LS and hits it way better than the G30 or his G25.

 

I hit one 308 last night and one 315 without wind, and didn't sniff one that distance with my G30. Only driver I've hit that is as long is the M1...

Subjective because if it's forgiveness I am hitting it straighter, and therefore longer. I would say on good hits maybe 5 yards carry but on misses it's closer to 10.

I'm really finding a groove with mine. Was playing g30ls OTR 10.5 in big + setting and the G LS is digital 11* in same setting, same couple shafts. I hit a ball yesterday that I never would have believed carried a dogleg, it was down wind but was hit so poorly on the toe I didn't even watch it. I have to hit a decent drive normally to carry and am left with ~80 in, that's exactly where it was sitting. The corner is OB, my provisional was pin high. Again, down wind, but I hit that tee shot ~150 times last 2 years with warmer temps and higher winds and I've never been within 40 yards. I was more impressed by the first one being in.

Ping G LS has been something special for me. I've had some of the longest driver (carry) then maybe ever in my life. Ping somehow continues to improve which amazes me. With that said I do have a challenger on the way :) no one likes a paper champ

Are you noticing a difference in fade bias between the G30 LS and G LS? I've read that the G LS is launching a little higher and less fade biased than the G30, and looking at the numbers from the Driver Trials it looks to be less fade biased, but I'm wondering if you've noticed anything.

Ping G LS has been something special for me. I've had some of the longest driver (carry) then maybe ever in my life. Ping somehow continues to improve which amazes me. With that said I do have a challenger on the way :) no one likes a paper champ

I would think... It's same concept, a couple difference version of the same driver.

I owned the M1 430, and have been in the TM camp a very long time. Last Ping driver I owned was the G20 and that was a cannon with a Blueboard x-flex that I stupidly BSTed. Even the G30 LS is longer than the M1 430...thats my swing, my measurement and assessment. My regular foursome even mentioned this G is a cannon, and one guy bought the G30 LS because of my Ping driver, shot his best round in a long time and even pipped me a few times. No regrets switching to Ping but now I have all these "exotic" shafts in the TM tip thats just gathering dust.... might wait till the M1/M2 drops to a $100 head and I may revisit TM again.

 

For now, its Ping all the way BABY!!!!
