Holy cow, what a day.

Hogan Edge GCD irons plus 2 Cleveland wedges for $20.  If my research is correct, this variant of the Hogan Edge GCD (that is, the single word "HOGAN" instead of "Ben Hogan") puts these at a mid-90s debut.

A mess of single clubs for $1 apiece, including 2 Mizuno wedges, an Adams Tight Lies 5 iron, an Acushnet Titleist Bullseye putter, a Titleist DCI 8 iron, and a Taylor Made wedge.

The MP T-11 was a great wedge. Came out after the groove change, so it's conforming, if that matters.

The Rough Fairway wedge is a nice find. They made a BeCu version as well, which is stamped "Made in the USA" on the hosel. I think there were two models, the Rough and Fairway one you have, and the RSF90: Rough, Sand, and Fairway model. Now, I'm pretty sure that the "70" does no actually refer to the loft (otherwise the RSF would have 90* of loft...), but I'm not actually sure what it's supposed to refer to. A Japanese blog I found said that the RSG had a loft of 52*. If you do measure the loft on yours, let us know!

Those are pyratone shafts which is a covering over early steel shafts.  Circa 1930's-early 40's.

It's pretty effin' steep, I know that.  I'll see what I can do about measuring the actual loft.

Thank You raggal and scomac for the info on the shafts.  I am wondering if they were rentals for a golf course named Ridgewood.

I would doubt that they were rentals, but I'm not familiar with common practices at the time.  What they more likely could have been were iron blanks that were stamped and built for members of a particular golf club back in the day.  We're still back in the early days for sets of clubs.  Golf clubs were still made on course by the pros for their members.

I agree that they are likely not rentals. The likelihood of them being shafted by the pro is low. Even late in the hickory era, the pros were not usually buying the heads and shafting them at the club, that practice ended in the early 1920’s. There were several small manufacturers that did custom work. They appear to me to be late thirties clubs judged by the hosel and the little muscle back design.

That SC Bullseye is the pick of the litter. Throw a little paint fill in it and sell it on for a decent turn around on it. Or of course just rehab it and throw it in your bag.

What do you recommend?  A little soak in salt and vinegar (like you would to shine up an old penny), maybe a little steel wool?  Then Testor's type paint, or something else?

I've seen the Rough And Fairway listed as 58 degrees, but with a little shade-tree mechanic work (clamping the club face to a workbench, then seeing how parallel the shafts are) it's awfully darn close to the 56 deg. Cleveland CG12 that I found.

Still can't find a whole lot of info on the RF70 wedge - I haven't been able to find its provenance at all; when the model debuted, any sort of serial number lookup, or anything like that.

I think it was 1988. Late Eighties, anyway. Mizuno were strengthening lofts, which therefore made room for a gap wedge at the bottom of the bag. For example, I've a TP Aluminium Bronze 52* wedge that came out in 1989.

Never heard of Ridgewood, but looks cool! I did some searching, and didn't find anything...

I only know the UK versions, I'm guessing that you're in Australia, Canada or the US?

I've not seen yours before.

The first version in the UK came out in 1969.

It's not all about the score.

A few of my recent thrift store finds, all in very good condition.  I just did some minor cleanup with 0000 wool and a bit of polish by hand.  Anyone know if the numbers and/or spalding script had any paint infill on them new?

If there was ever a GI iron during that era, your Executive's fit the bill. I was always a fan of the OTH shafts. I had both a set of Hagen's and PowerBilts that had over the hosel shafts and loved how they set up.

So many of those vintage perma-tube bags were in use. .

I've got a few in the collection but much  prefer standard dividers.

wonder what made that style come into being.....

anyone know more of their history?

Beautiful irons. I have a set of DX's and actually prefer them to some of the Tourney models. My MacGregor Kaplan book has temporarily gone missing, but I would say those DX's are 1964 or 1965 if I had to guess. I'm sure someone will weigh in with the exact year.

There was one good fortnight for golf clubs in the local thrift stores, but now they've seemingly been entirely picked over.
