I'm so upset with myself for being lazy. Normally I am not and will drive to pick up new toys even to break even.  I made a commitment to myself to better manage my time but I think I have made a mistake.  A set of Maxfli Dunlop Austrialian Blades popped up for $20.  3-pw stiff.   I was going to grab them but flaked out.  They sold the same night I declined.  They looked so nice.  I checked ebay and figured they were worth around $100 but after close look a day later I saw the same set sold for $250.   My loss.

Awesome bag in amazing condition.  Good score!

Oh, the pic is a little deceptive - the bottom is a little haggard and the rivets are corroded.  It cleaned up super nicely though!  I hit it with some saddle soap and a soft sponge, and removed a little of the dinge from the outside.

You did a fine job.  A little elbow grease goes a long way on this old equipment.  I think the fact that things get dirty is often the only reason folks get rid of them in the first place!

Yes, you should kick yourself. One of the iconic Holy Grail sets. I have a set picked up cheap from a Play It Again who was not going to put them out for sale.

Yes those are beautiful clubs but I'd suggest the "Holy Grail" sets in this case are the original "Made in Australia" model, not this model that came a few models later.

My son and DIL were left a high dollar grill when they moved into their house because the seller went to an apartment.  In this case the seller didn't realize until moving day, so just left it behind along with a new mower too! 🤷‍♂️

This sort of behavior seems odd to us because we're recycling old golf clubs, but to others, especially those with poor money habits, leaving good stuff behind that could have been sold for good money is too much bother.

That is because we were raised in the practical common sense frugal generation. Todays generation is the spend spend throw away generation. I used to see a lot of it driving a truck for the scrapyard

i don’t think leaving things behind that could be sold is an example of bad money

habits.

if you have a closing date looming, you have to sell whatever it is pretty quickly, so you’re not going to get top dollar for your grill or mower or couch or whatever. not to mention, if you don’t get it sold, you have to spend the time, and perhaps the expense, to get rid of it.

is the time and effort of listing the item, dealing with buyers, making yourself available for them to come by, etc, worth it?  lots of people say no. that’s not poor money habits, it’s just deciding their time is worth more than the couple of bucks they could get.

quick related story:  when we moved last year we left a nice stainless steel fridge in the basement of our old house. threw it in with the sale. i really wanted it for the garage at the new house, but thought about what a PITA it was to get it down the basement stairs in the first place. with an accepted offer on our house, deposit in escrow, pretty much full moving truck, and just a few days until we had to be out, i didn’t want to risk risk damage to the stairs, walls, or ceiling getting it out of there. so i bought a 6-pack of good beer, put it in the fridge, and texted the buyer “think of the fridge as a housewarming gift. enjoy your new home”

Not this one, but your point is taken.

As far as leaving stuff behind at the last minute, it can be a conscious decision based on timelines, but when you know that you're moving to a condo and you don't need a new mower, why wouldn't you at least try and sell it first if you haven't included it in the realestate deal?  It's not hard; a FB buy and sell group locally or kijiji.  Next to no effort and be rid of it in a couple of days especially if you price it to move.  Credit cards have just made money easy come, easy go with no one having to think about where the next dollar is going to come from until the bills are due...

i agree with you. we sold a bunch of stuff for cheap just so we didn’t have to move it. i’m just saying it’s not always so straight forward.

we sold a couch that we didn’t want to take with us. a big, comfy, navy blue sectional. put it up on FB marketplace and offer up.

6 people came by over the course of a week, wasted my time and lowballed me. i was selling the couch for $200. it was a year old.

in hindsight, i wish i would’ve dragged it to the curb and given the garbage men $50 to get rid of it

I was debating whether it was worth detouring to Second Swing today and eating up $9 of gas … it was well worth it.

The place was mostly empty so the sales associate let me hit a whole bunch of the $20 and under bargain bin clubs in one of the trackman bays for over 30 minutes. I also saw a brand new looking vokey in 46 degree that I wanted to try that was marked all the way down to $47. I tried out a whole pile of 3 woods and settled on a Titleist 975F at 13.5 with a steel shaft and a Callaway Big Bertha Deuce 2 wood as the 2 clubs I was hitting best .

Went to the register and they were both mine for $10.05 including tax , I was thrilled. Club head and ball speed weren’t amazing on the steel shaft 975 but I was hitting them dead straight on the sim , all fairway shots from the tee and mat.

Also found out the Vokey 46 is no better than my 45 degree Wilson gooseneck 9 iron (at least off a mat) so saved some money there.

Saw this at the bargain bin and had to pick it up for my vintage bag, anyone know any details on the grip? Feels great and makes me want to give cord grips a try, but it’s definitely thicker than say a TV cord.

IMO the GP Classic Cord was the finest in it's day, although the Victory Cord and the Tour Wrap Cord were more popular.

well thanks, I would take it,

but seriously I am starting to make it a problem. Since I fist started being on here I have doubles my vintage iron sets, which I had too many to begin with. I take them when I see full sets only now, and sets I think are very good like this set

So I guess you guys are at fault.  i had a happy little collection of vintage now I am overflowing in my space, I could move it, or at least weed down the lesser sets in favor of the 10 fave maybe, we'll see but judging by my first 2 days of summer break I may just keep going, havent found this good of vintage at the goodwill in a while especially the usable old woods.

enjoy everybody
