I won’t be taking direct photos of the eclipse, there will be plenty online. I am an avid photographer and don’t feel like damaging the sensor on a $2000 camera. I am going to take one in the bag, probably my old Fuji X10 for interesting lighting but not of the sun itself.

 

It will be more interesting to take in the experience, the sights and sounds. If it is cloudy, I may get a few interesting shots. I usually carry a small camera in the bag anyway.

 

For anyone using their phone camera, be careful especially trying to video the eclipse. It will damage the sensor in the same way your eyes would be affected.

Yep.  I heard about this from an independent 25 year old who’s running for that seat now.  My former nypd pal down here told me to check him out.    Kids trying to grass roots , break the monopoly cycle.   I’m not talking politics.  Im talking areas I don’t know much about , and my curiosity to know more from first hand accounts.  I’m just saying that I understand what you’re saying.  And that the younglings seem to be done with it.  ALL.

No problem with the eyes or the camera at the few minutes of totality or the diamond ring effect.

yep, the fleeting duration of the total eclipse is ok, but anywhere not total or the millisecond before or after the totality ends can fry your sensors like your eyes.

 

you can tape a lens from eclipse glasses to your phone though. anywhere without totality and without the right glasses, we’ll forget it.

 

the whole thing will last about as long a teenage guy his first time.

 

if you fry your eyes or phone, you are not a victim. you are a moron. bless your heart.

 

i trust there will be many morons and plenty using their regular sunglasses (hey, these are polarizing!)

 

eclipses are natures way of punishing morons. even a millisecond of looking at any part of the sun without protection is enough to make you a moron. 🙂

well, it’s monday. time for all of the “swing like akshay bhatia!” videos and articles to start.

 

more tee times will be available as people try it. they’ll be busy going to chiropractors, scheduling back surgery, taking a year or two off from golf, buying back braces, buying slip on shoes, using bbq tongs to pick up anything that falls on the floor, etc.

We only have a partial here in SC. Now back in 2017 we had a full eclipse. My wife wore my welding helmet and I think I had a #10 lens in it. She had no eye problems. This time she says she will not view it. Said she was not buying eclipse glasses to view for like 7 minutes or so. My welding helmet went with the tool boxes.
