We've spent like 30 minutes now talking about a potential rules violation that may or may not affect the tournament...sucking the life out of this thing.

 

Announcers don't know who's in the lead how far behind guys are.

Golf should not have some sort of "instant replay" or "video review".

 

Rules Official was there. Call was made. Continue play - time for penalty has already passed.

 

Can you imagine any other sport where a penalty occurs early in the game, they let the competitors know it may have occurred, and then they call said penalty after the game is over?

Yea I'm thinking about how ridiculous it would be for something like that to happen tonight in game 7.

 

Imagine all the players waiting around on the court after the game ends while the refs review a play from the 1st quarter.

 

The USGA / rules officials need to make a call immediately, wrong or right, and not let this hang around the rest of the round. It's completely unfair for every competitor in the mix

My exact thoughts. I'm not a big DJ fan, due to a lot of the personal things...wanted Shane to win as I think this course fits his game. But now...GO DJ. Got burned last year and won't be burned again.

This is the really disturbing part along with them asking what could have made it move if he didnt. That's not his responsibility to explain. Simply terrible.

That rules official and the USGA can go f*** itself. I'm done with their power trip tactics whenever it suits them. That video is 100% inconclusive whether DJ impacted that balls movements or not. If I was DJ I would refuse to sign my card and take the DQ if he ends up losing over this s***.

Not for nothing but instead of just agreeing to allow them to look at it after the round couldn't DJ have said, in his own defense "No, I want a commitment here and now so that I can move on. Now go and review it and whatever and come back and let me know what goes."

 

At least then he could continue playing knowing the score - literally.

 

"We'll just wait here for you guys to go and watch the video."

 

And then let the crowd around him know "They're reviewing that thing back on the green a few holes back and may be giving me a penalty now. Whatever you all do, if they penalize me, don't go turning over the USGA tents or anything. Remain calm!"

 

Ok, maybe that last bit was too far but could he, in all seriousness, simply asked them to "S" or get off of the pot?
