... I certainly understand protecting your patents and #1 ball position for real violations and they should, but "bully" sounds about right when it comes to the ProV1 when the competitor doesn't really infringe on any patents but they still try and sue them out of existence because it means less competition.

And I think we saw who whipped out the bigger eggplant in the battle, take a look at Kirkland wedges, putter and soon to be released driver and tell me who was scared of who.

... Titleist sues just about EVERYBODY that makes a golf ball.

"Acushnet, the leading golf-ball manufacturer in the U.S. and the parent company of the Titleist brand, filed a lawsuit in Massachusetts accusing 10 small companies of selling golf balls that infringe on several of the company's patents.

It's another reason I don't care for them.

And the irony in their claiming patent infringement is hilarious

Are they an official retailer or selling gray market clubs like they've done previously with other brands?

I used to work part-time at my local golf shop for "fun money" that I would spend on golf equipment and things that I wanted. Getting equipment at PUD pricing or at a 25% discount was nice, but here in KY after discount, Pro Vs were still running $48/dozen.

I played the OG K-Sig before they got sued into oblivion, and it was similar if not the same as an older version of the Pro V1. Since then, Kirkland has had a few balls come out that were great, but yielded excessive spin. However, the new v3 is much closer to the OG K-Sig ball. Albeit, the OG was 4 pc. construction, and the v3 is a  3pc. construction.

I bought 3 boxes (6 dozen) for $100, which saved me $180+ if I were to buy Pro Vs. Given that it is fall time, leaves are everywhere, and the weather is cooling down, I am more than happy to play a Kirkland ball that doesn't hurt my wallet every time I lose one. Mind you, I typically won't lose more than a ball or two per 18 holes, but somedays are worse than others.

It is nice not to stress over a tight tee shot knowing that if you lose the ball, it only costs $1.50, rather than $4.50.

I need to truly hit the v3 side by side with ProV1, ProV1x and Left Dash ProV1x to see the major differences in distance, but honestly, the game isn't getting any cheaper, and I am more than happy to save a few bucks on balls. If Kirkland keeps it up, they're going to eventually come out with a ball that will be similar if not better than a Titleist ball, the difference is, they won't market it as such.

FWIW, I pay a TSR3 driver, TSR hybrid, T150 irons and Vokey wedges. I am a Titleist guy through and through, but I am happy to play a K-Sig, because the two most volatile pieces of equipment are your wedge grooves, and the amount of golf balls you go through in a given season. We all have some sort of an ego because we are human beings....but I will tell you, I will never apologize for what golf ball I tee up on a daily basis.

Cheers!

Excellent post!! Great to see a fellow Kentuckian here as well!!!

They currently have Honma, Cobra, Mizuno, and others on the site.  What brands have they engaged in a grey market with?  That's news to me.

The neon yellow V3 has arrived at the Costco in Palm Desert, CA 🥳

Yeah, I went to three Costco stores and they didn't have the yellow in stock. The 4th store had the yellow in stock. I wanted to use them for my round, but still haven't used them. 😂 I am very curious to see what the V3s are like. I still wonder if there are any slight differences between the white and yellow in flight characteristics.

From what I've seen they are P790 killers.

I'm getting some new irons by Christmas.  I'm waiting for the KSigs to come out and get a review or two.  If they fit what I want as far as shafts are concerned I'm getting them.  Otherwise it will be the PXG 0211 XCOR2 with the Mits. MMT 70 in R flex.

Regardless of patents, Titleist seems to sue if you even compare a ball to their ProV1.

Got my double dozen of the V3 yellow when they were running the online special for $27.99👍 (just checked, they’re back to $34.99 now)

So far I’m really liking them. Have been playing TP5 or Z Star Diamond the past couple years & though anecdotally the Ksig may come up a little shorter on some shots, overall it’s at least the equal to those two in my game.

Have hit my best shot of the year with the Ksig (80 yards, a couple feet past & backed up to within less than a foot)

Durability wise, the ball in the pic in the fairway has been played for 45 holes (actually this was the drive on the 45th) & still looks pristine.

I’m a lower swing speed player, hit my driver 225-235, maybe 240 on a good one, play strong lofted, low spin irons (JPX 923 HMP), but the Ksig really seems to fit my game. Have been backing up 8 irons a couple feet, something that is rare for me.

Honestly I can afford to play any ball I choose, but right now I’m really liking the neon Ksig V3👍

Driver distance same here.  There is video by Matt Blois that shows the low spin player distance type irons shine with the Kirkland ball, though he used the V2.  I'm sure the V3 would be similar in results.

Good review. I just bought some of the yellow V3 and are really interested to see how they perform.

Are you shorter with the higher compression balls like ProV1X, TP5X, Srixon Z-Star XV, etc? I think the V3 is higher compression and lower spin than the V2. Players that I have talked to about the V3 say it is longer off the tee, but they were higher swing speed players over 100mph.

Well, considering both TM and Mizuno clubs have been on their site for over a month and there's been no known drama surrounding them, I'd say they're official.

The golf boom is over and now the mfg's are having to offload extra product. Costco is a great place to sell them as it opens them up to a potentially different audience.

I've been thinking about how to truly get a good comparison between the Ksig (or really any ball) against others.

I know that there’s launch monitor data available, and a lot of folks have hit multiple balls from the same spot to compare distances, but these are still more or less isolated individual swings, which for most of us have a good bit of variation.

I think for me, the best way to get a truly valid comparison would be to play a few rounds using exclusively 1 model of ball, then play the same number of rounds on the same course with the Ksig, then compare scores.

That should smooth out the variability in individual swings & give a more realistic picture of how a given ball performs for your game.

... Every testing method has flaws. As I have said before using a LM and a robot with a 95 mph swing, center contact and a neutral AOA is bad enough since I don't always hit the center and have a +3 AOA, but add in different shafts with a stiff or soft tip and how the head is delivered to the ball and my performance could be the opposite of the testing data. But it does give you at least a starting point concerning spin, trajectory and distance.

... Personally I don't like score as an indicator of any clubs performance because there are just too many variables like lip outs, 3 putts, bad/good chips and pitches. Skulling a chip over the green doesn't tell you anything about the V3. Then consider a fade just to the right of one fairway in light rough and the next is in the water on the next hole. One is a good drive resulting in a par and the next drive although hit exactly the same is a double bogie after dropping in the rough.

... After my own testing over 25 rounds or so and finally a head to head comparison I found the Maxfli Tour was a little longer off my driver and irons as well as performing a little better in the wind. But I also shot a 66 with the V3 and a 76 with the Maxfli Tour. 🤷‍♂️ So for me the Maxfli is a pretty clear winner for my game but certainly not a night and day difference and if it isn't windy I would have no problem playing a V3 in a casual round.

I'm sure it would have taken longer on the phone. 😜 Sometimes when you call Costco, it routes you to the main call center not a specific store, though. Also, I was already in those areas, so no big deal.
