Saw some new Callaway Woods last night (The Epic Thread)

This has reached the point of me just getting ticked off at this clear "hype process" by Callaway, so in this possible customer's case, it's not working. Whenever I read this thread, I feel like I'm on another website where this is the norm.

 

In fairness.. aside from maybe 1 post, Callaway hasn't hyped anything on here and hasn't been active on here over the years.

 

Speaking of "another website", I've been pointed to another Callaway trip going on now that seriously looks "epic". Easily the best OEM trip I've seen

 

No, but they don't have to be directly active on here anymore. Harry himself has stated, part of their rise is due to creating a group of "passionate advocates". Their marketing is more effective if your buddy says "here check this out", versus them saying it.

 

To be blatantly honest, with as big a following as you have for your shootout threads, I'm shocked you weren't chosen to go on the trip. (I could be wrong about this, as I haven't seen the official list, just piecing it together)

 

I've mentioned this earlier in the thread, and you guys can judge us based on our behavior when we get back so talk is cheap i get that. But GolfWRX message from the beginning when talking to us was be fair and nice and have a great time, and certainly be appreciative of the opportunity... but when you come back don't run threads, don't bully people, don't engage in ridiculous hyperbole...etc etc. Purpose of the trip, while i have no doubts it will be very fun, is to report on the clubs to you fine members, and provide data vs our current sticks which we shipped to Callaway this week.

 

The guys going have volunteered to change our avatars to let everyone know we were on the trip, so anyone reading can take our comments in knowing that with full disclosure.

 

You've been a member here a while. They picked ME for god's sake....Do you know some of the stuff i've written about the trips over the years? I considered deleting every post i made between 2012-2014 just to be safe after getting picked (ticket is booked now, think i'm good)

 

Anyway, give us a chance. I think this group has the potential to be both very fair with Callaway and represent the site well.

Given that most people have ridiculously short attention spans, I think Callaway are planning on leaving any official release/photos etc to as close to 27 Jan as possible.

 

That way it will be fresher in people's minds than M1/M2 when it comes time to purchase.

I don't know the answer to this but I still think it is relevant regardless. Even if it were a spin issue, there is a reason he isn't playing other heads, his current one gave him the best overall performance, including length, accuracy, forgiveness. The new Epic is the first driver that has shown enough promise initially to beat out his GBB on all fronts. Obviously needs on course testing before making that determination.

 

Well if it is a spin issue, the driver in your bag (LTD) has around the same MOI as GBB (slightly higher actually), while spinning much less. Maybe that was best for him out of Callaway stuff tho assuming he is on staff

 

We get it...if it's not a Cobra it can't be a game changer. No other company can match the King LTD low/back CG yada yada yada.

Callaways adapter, being a dual cog system, does very little if anything to face angle when you adjust the loft either way.

I got to see these today when the rep stopped by my local shop. Perfect timing I guess. Anyway, I'd have to completely disagree about it looking closed. In my opinion it sat pretty darn square.

Golf companies should to take a leaf out of Apple's book and have their gear in the shops a couple of days after the announcement. Cobra are one of the worst. They officially announce something and then you can't actually buy it for 3-4 months. Mizuno are the same with their woods. The 900 driver isn't available in the UK till February, yet it was announced in August.

Very nice, much looks like my 815 Alpha. I do sense that I see the turbolators when zooming in, very subtle and seems not colored. A sharpie would take car if the white / green that does indeed appear to be visible on top of the back crown
