Forgotten Golf Manufacturers

I remember the Slotline Inertial putter in the 80s. It was a novelty then

Penfold balls from England and Spalding Dot balls from Australia I guess And Hogan balls for the aspiring amateur.

True, some pros used to play Northwestern or Brown clubs. I think they looked kind of cheap compared to MacGregor, Wilson or Spalding.

Tiger Shark came up with the first thick putter grip in the 80s.

Hottest piece of equipment when I was a kid was the red Spalding Tour bag with shining Tour irons and woods and Tour Edition balls. Greg Norman’s material.

I'll start with Sounder. Apparently made a nice forging. Seve used their blades.

Joey Powell and Wood Brothers!! I had both woods and irons from Wood Brothers and I'm sorry I don't still have them!

Didn't read completely through the thread, but a couple that I have or had clubs for:

Spalding - my first set of new irons, purchased at Dunhams sporting goods store back in the late 80's.

Langert - My first metal-headed driver (pre-titanium) was a Langert Lizard. Really cool looking shaft that was iridescent green...looked like lizard skin I guess. Still have this one in the garage... Head's about the size of a modern 5-wood, lol, should pull it out and give it a try some day.

Imagine Golf.

They looked like mini-fairway woods that covered the lofts from a 2 iron through a 6 iron. They were beautiful dark blue in color. The most interesting concept is that they were all the same length and a bit shorter than stock irons. Way, way ahead of their time.

I played them for years. I never met anybody else that had them.

A local independent pro shop locally carried them for a couple of years and than they vanished.

Tiger Shark

I remember lusting after a set of Tiger Shark or Spalding Executive irons

It was the back end of the '80s I think

It was ok....

Spalding Executive irons with the stipple pattern in the cavity and the shafts over the hosel were my first "good" set of clubs in 1982! Paired with Lynx Predator woods with the wood inlays in the crown and some pretty big offset. Replaced the woods with first or second generation Taylormade "Pittsburgh Persimmons". Replaced the irons with a set of Pal Joey's in 1988 as a grad school graduation present to myself. Back then "custom" meant 1/2" overlength... :-)

I hit with the Spalding Execs now sometimes. Love those clubs.

Remember the Basakward putters and the PowerPod driver? Anyone remember the dual face drivers that KZG first came out with...then Nicklaus Golf followed.

Tom Wishon reminds me that Jerry Barber made these cool-looking clubs with shankless hosels.

Decades later, F2 made them without so much as a mention of Jerry Barber.

Worst ripoff since the Beach Boys plagiarized Chuck Berry

BTW, bendable fairway wood and driver hosels blow away adjustables, Tom.

Just you and Henry-Griffitts seem to have it right.
