I still have a set of Nicklaus Air Bear Offset irons 3 - PW. Sleek and smooth. I also have a random 9 iron from Knight (???????) I can't even find any information on them other than sale posts on ebay or amazon.

 

If i remember correctly Knight was Gary Players attempt into the club industry. Arnie had clubs, Jack had clubs, So he had to as well. you know, big 3 an' all.

Knight was a club manufacturer that made some forgettable generic "knockoff/inspired by clubs". Gary Players line of clubs was Black Night.

My first set of clubs were made by Rawlings. “Pure Gold” was the line, IIRC.

 

I could hit that 3-wood a mile off tee. “1-wood,” not so much.

There have been a few over the years that have had their day in the sun only to disappear out of favor.

 

Great list... my first hand-me-downs included Armour irons, a Knight driving iron, and a Spalding putter. The woods might have been Northwestern, but I never used them because I couldn't hit them worth a crap, so I just used the driving iron.

I'm sure these brands have been mentioned, but two of my favorite driving irons were by Strategy (Billy Club) and Controller.

I have a set of Zevo Z-Blades, 1-SW with Sytem 11 shafts, in the bag quite often.

 

Juli Inkster played the Zevo Z-Blades way back when and I loved the aesthetics then. Zevo was a top tier component head company that was in the bag of some Tour professionals. Blade technology hasn’t really evolved much over the last 30 years so assuming your swing is there - you could play them just as well as any comparable design from today.

I still have a 2 iron and 5 iron in the Professional Grind model, the ones that Verplank played with Tour Weight shafts. My plan for the 2 iron is to use it with a set of Wood Bros blades. Someday. LOL

I have a set of SEs irons, which are still used from time to time.

Pinseeker - they "introduced" cavity back irons in mass about the same time as Ping was gaining momentum.

 

They were a nice feeling irons, but they couldn't compete with the reputation Ping was establishing

 

Hmmm, I beg to differ. About 1986 I was working at a retail golf shop in Columbus, Ohio as a stock boy/delivery boy my junior year of high school. We never had any PING Eye 2's in stock because of demand. Due to that, many bought the original Pinseeker TPW irons instead. Also at that time, Pinseeker trailed only TaylorMade in terms of sales of metal woods. My boss eventually gave me a whole set of Pinseekers (sans putter) and my scoring average in high school went from 40 to the 35-36 range for 9 holes my senior year. Before I was using an old set of MacGregor MT blades with persimmon-headed woods. I used those Pinseekers through college. Great clubs. Not sure what happened to the company, though, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with Ping.

When I started in the mid 70’s Shamrock was on display at the pro shop I remember just staring at them when doing the waggle with the other clubs. One set irons I remember as being blue, they may have been MacGregor, but I haven’t been able to find any of them since.
