Tiger Woods WITB 2017

I think we are going to see the TGR irons in play with an M1/M2 driver, M2 3/5 wood, a 790 2/3 iron, Nike wedges, and Ol' Reliable (SC NP2).

I nailed it...just saying. ?

He was playing the 17 M2 Tour 3-Wood earlier this year so guessing that is what is still in his bag. Does anyone else find it odd that he goes from a strong 3-Wood at 13* then jumps to the 17 M1 5-Wood at 19*? That’s quite the jump so maybe the 13* has been bent to add more loft or the 19* has had the loft turned down?

Either of those could be true or he might just prefer the stronger loft as the trend on tour is for the longer players to hit 3 woods a lot more often off the tees. You don't seem to see as many 3 woods into par 5s as you do the 5 woods and hybrids(or 6 irons for long hitters), so it seems that the 3 wood needs have been more catered to tee shots than approaches.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the 5 wood was lowered a little because it’s an M1. The M2 cannot be adjusted. Either way the 3 wood does seem to be used off the tee a good bit, and Tiger likes to use 5 wood out of rough or for high spinning shots. It is unusual but it doesn’t surprise me.

So only Woods and a utility iron. 9 other clubs and Bridgestone ball. Hopefully endorsement deal is playing, performance, and equipment based. Stupid if they are paying him same as DJ, Rose, Rahm, Day that are Taylormade totally..

He is Tiger Frik'n Woods, so not stupid at all. When he's on tv he still moves the needle more than those others combined

Apparently not enough to save Nike golf.

Ping G400 Testing G410.  10.5 set at small -
Ping G410 3, 5 and 7 wood

Ping G410 5 hybrid-not much use.

Vokey 54.10, 2009 58.12 M, Testing TM MG2 60* TW grind and MG3 56* TW grind.  Or Ping Glide Stealth, 54,58 SS.

He moved it enough for them to become a major player in a very competitive market. They went from not having a golf division to having clothes, shoes, balls, clubs. It was a smart decision to get out when they did. They could have kept selling clubs, but as others are learning it's not exactly a high profit product to sell.

Interesting he does not have metal spikes on his golf shoes. That was a staple in the past. He did go away from the metal spikes back in the day. It was after one of his surgeries but that was only for a short period of time.

Please dont kill me for posting that here as I know this is ab what he is playing in his bag!!

Let’s see if he finishes 4 rounds before declaring him moving the needle. Never has and never will sell clubs at Titleist and Nike. Clothes yes clubs no.. we will see if the needle he moves is TV viewership or a needle of cortisone to the base of his spine..

You shouldn't give jokes that good away for free...

No other player coming back from injury draws this much buzz leading up to his return.

Disagree on the metal vs soft spike topic! Metal during his (albeit short) return last year. Dont want to get off topic, so Ill zip it moving forward.

His shoes are part of his equipment, I don’t think that would be considered as off topic. :)

Didn't Tiger wear the Champ Pro Stinger (steel/softspike combo) spikes for a while?

Tiger routinely switches between a stronger 3 wood (13/13.5) and a standard (15) 3 wood as well as 5w/2i depending on the course. If he feels that he’s going to use the 3 wood more as a tee Club, he’ll use the strong 3.

It’s a hard thing to pick up, unless you pay close attention to his WITBs bc it’s generally the same model Club with no visual cue.
