So only Woods and a utility iron. 9 other clubs and Bridgestone ball. Hopefully endorsement deal is playing, performance, and equipment based. Stupid if they are paying him same as DJ, Rose, Rahm, Day that are Taylormade totally..

 

He is Tiger Frik'n Woods, so not stupid at all. When he's on tv he still moves the needle more than those others combined

 

Apparently not enough to save Nike golf.

 

He moved it enough for them to become a major player in a very competitive market. They went from not having a golf division to having clothes, shoes, balls, clubs. It was a smart decision to get out when they did. They could have kept selling clubs, but as others are learning it's not exactly a high profit product to sell.

Never made money. Never appealed to the masses. They had clothes and shoes before Tiger.

Also, majors won with Nike putter vs Scotty? I'm sure I could figure it out, but, there are so many knowledgeable folks on here, I thought someone might know off-hand?

i dont think his not winning majors had much to do with what putter he was using. seems like he missed a ton of fairways and his wedge game went to complete Sh!t.

Totally fair observation, there. I just think it's amazing that he never won with the Method. He played a significant amount of golf with that in the bag. But, your point is very valid!

I could be wrong (lord knows it has happened before) but I don't think he put the method in play until 2011. He has only played in a handful of majors since then. Most notably 2013 when he was player of the year and a hit flagstick away from winning the masters. His best iron play statistically was with the Nike irons

I will say that if you factor in what they paid Tiger, Rory etc. it would make it really hard. Plus the Oven was there to cater to tour players not really a profit center, so it would be difficult to make money unless they had huge volume.

 

I got nothing against Nike, I played some of their clubs over the years, but a tour pro endorsing your product, even Tiger, is no guarantee for success.

Was just gonna ask what shaft in his 2 iron, but looks like the mystery solved. Definitely a PX of some sort, but damn he hit that shot C L E A N.

Definitely the Pxi shaft in his Tour Preferred UDI 2 iron. If it is the exact same shaft as he played in his Nike driving iron since 2012, it is 6.5 flex.

 

Also, it looked like he only had one fairway wood in the bag today and it was a 2017 M1. Assuming it is his 3 wood, it looks like earlier reports of him having a 2017 M2 three wood were incorrect.
