Is anyone still playing multiple fairway woods

So for years and years now ive been a D, 4w, 3h, 4-P, 52, 58, Putter guy. I have recently been thinking of going back to a more traditional wood set up. I am thinking of busting out a 3 and 5 wood both for play. I have an 07 burner tp 5 wood and i just picked up an x hot 3 wood for a song. I am thinking off the tee for 3 wood and 5 wood off the deck. I was wondering who does this?

When it’s not too windy, JP uses a five wood. It’s a terrific Tourstage VIQ 5 wood with GD shaft of some non consequence. But it is hard to flight low and so it’s kind of a sunny calm day club, cause the wind howls here. Otherwise he uses a DI at 18*. The five wood is easier to execute. JP also will use his 909h at 17*. It depends how well he’s swinging. Sometimes he can come over the top with that hybrid....

When forced to go to a three wood off the tee because he’s trashing his drives, he can still find hitting his three wood is problematic. He has been forced to hit stingers with his DI. Sucks Word not allowed.

Definitely. 3w, 5w, 22*hybrid, 5i. Short knocker, so this part of my bag gets a serious workout when playing longer tracks. I need 3w or 5w to get home in reg on wicked long par 4s. 3 wood gets more work on windy days and/or linksy style tracks that run. 5 wood on longer forced carries and/or still days. Heavier shafts, slightly shorter lengths help with the dispersion with these kiddos. Ymmv.

Wait a minute here!!!!! I always understood the JP hits it pure at all times. This post suggests otherwise. Some hacker may have gained access to JP's account. We need to have this checked into!!!

I primarily carry a 3 and 5 wood. I also have a 18* DI I’ll switch out on certain courses where I’ll be using it off the tee a lot. The 5 wood is great, but it can launch rather high from the tee and the DI is easier to control from the tee. I do prefer the 5 wood on courses where I’m likely to be going at par 5’s though.

I really like the flexibility of a 5-wood, especially when going for par-5s in two so I use that over an extra wedge or a hybrid. If it's extremely windy though (which I'm from Oklahoma and live in Texas now...both can be super windy) then I'll switch to a DI instead of the 5-wood

I am thinking off the tee for 3 wood and 5 wood off the deck. I was wondering who does this?

I go D, 4 wood, 3 hybrid or 7 wood depending on conditions. I hit a 4 instead of a 3 because I hit it better, the 3 comes out too low and I'm not consistent enough with the 3.

From your post, it seems like you are adding the 3 for tee shots. Okay, I get that, but why then take out the 4 wood for a 5? Do you really want to give up the distance from the fairway just to play traditional d, 3, 5 set? Why not keep the 4? If you plan on using the 3 from the FW, I get it.

3 wood and 5 wood for me. I have tried to replace the 5 wood many times with a 2 hybrid or a 2 iron, but the 5 wood always comes back. Much easier to hit and I love the effortless high ball flight.

Both are nice off the tee, but the 5 wood is stupid easy to hit off the deck.

Get the shaft right and you are going to have some weapons.

I use a 3-wood and a 5-wood. The 5 is my fairway finder and 2nd shot on a par 5 if I hit my drive far enough. The 3 is just kinda there most of the time, but I have hit some great shots with it in the past. The gap from the 5-wood to the 4-iron is kinda big, though, so I was thinking about a 4 hybrid or something.

3 wood and 5 wood for me on most occasions at my home course.

Sometimes 3 wood is dropped when I need an extra wedge or put in a 3 iron when playing links.

On these occasions I use the adjustability to strengthen the loft on the 5 wood.
