The worst advice youve ever heard?

'If you don't start hitting it how I showed you we're going home. No! Do it properly. That's not properly! You're doing this on purpose. Stop whacking it! No! Did I tell you to put it there? Did I? Where did I tell you to put it? No! This is the last time we come'.

Both funny and sad at the same time.

There's so many of them and many that I have espoused myself.

I think head down is probably the worst because it causes people to not seek quality golf instruction. They often end up just wanting to get the ball airborne which is caused by a myriad of other issues they have. Then they think if they keep their head down that will cause them to get the ball airborne consistently when it has nothing to do with it. And that's why they often don't get lessons...they think getting the ball airborne consistently is the result of doing something as simple as keeping your head down. And the sad part is that their head is indeed down at impact anyway.

ROFL.

In that case, the not coming back part might actually be better for the rest of us. LOL

"Your putting stroke is too stabby, you should develop a pendulum type stroke. Also, you should move the grip out of your fingers and into your palms." This advice was from a good (and well-meaning) player when I was a teenager, and it affected my putting horribly for 3-4 years. Now I have a semi-pendulum like stroke and am putting well, but still not as well as I did with a 1-inch follow through and a full-swing grip.

Every single word or phrase ever said that was quoted without the context in which it was originally extracted from - unfortunately this eliminates almost everything. Even someone (assume a golfer with game or amazing with the technique they are referring to) describing what they are doing may not have a complete understanding of what they are doing and why.

Yep ... any tip without context is worse than one trying to figure it out themselves. If my swing is on then I can aggressively go at releasing the club, however, if it is off somewhat, then this just results in lots of hooks and slices for myself. And lets face it - Jack's swing is significantly better than most. What works for professional golfers cannot be taken per verbatim and coped onto hackers as us.
