Cobra's new King F8 drivers, woods, hybrids and irons

thats great retailing! speaking of.... I find it totally stooooooooooopid that a new product is released in January. How about after Thanksgiving. so maybe a new driver can go under the X MAS Tree?? or does that make too much sense? Like maybe I don't know there are billions spent on crap between thanksgiving and dec 24, but no one buys a new driver cause the release date is in January! LOL.

 

I agree, if they we released in November, so Christmas would come into play for sales.

I'm not sure when they added this but on Cobra's website, they have an F8 "Tour Length" driver that comes stock at 44.5" or 44.25" with a normal grip without Arccos. The picture shows two 12 gram weights so this is without a doubt the second iteration of the double weight driver AKA the Rickie driver.

 

No F8+ version, just the F8 draw version. Also only appears to come in the Nardo colorway.

 

I didn't know if any of you saw this so just wanted to let you guys know.

As for GG keeping cobra products, I’m whatever to it. I actually stay away from them as they are just absurdly expensive compared to my other shops.

Fun fact. The GG I visited for a flash sale last week had a lot of Cobra in it. Wedges, irons, the new drivers and f8 line. It seemed to generate a lot of interest.

My wonder is if GG doesn’t carry Cobra stuff then, will they carry Puma apparel? They are one in the same company.

only selected GG stores will stock the NEW F8 line. As far as Puma apparel, All of the GG locations should have Puma in store.

I think the Evo IV will be a good fit , and it will be interesting

to test it head to head aganst the King Ltd / Platinum combo .....

I hit this the other day. Not very impressive. Felt cheap and looked like it was made of plastic. The graphics are uninspiring and look like knock off Tmag designs. It performed just fine though numbers wise.

Available on 1/12/18, so the real question is how long after that before they throw in a FW (and maybe even the hybrid) for free?

 

Is this the date for irons as well? My son just got fit for the F8 5-PW and hoping we get them early for tournament play. :fingerscrossed:

Finally got to hit this thing on a launch monitor. My averages through 11 shots (after warmup with some hooks and slices to get them out of the way) were:

 

Ball Speed: 163

Launch: 12

Spin: 2500 - 2600

Average Spin Axis: 3* Left (Draw, This thing didn't want to move once it left the face!)

Carry: 275

Total: 301

 

This was with the stock 2KXV Green 65 S, I wonder what sort of numbers I'd get from a proper fitting. I really hope the Even Flow Blue works best for me because that shaft with the Nardo gray F8+ head will look so damn sexy.

 

This is why I hate living in Wisconsin because I won't be able to get out and see a real ball flight for months.

 

The F8+ was set at 9.5* with the 12 gram weight in front. I normally play a 70 gram Stiff tipped or a 70 X (which usually end up being between 75 and 80 grams anyway) and the driver set anywhere between 8 and 9 which would hopefully bring that spin down a touch to keep things a little straighter when I let one get away from me. With the courses I play, I don't need any more distance than I already have so even if I lose some yards going to the heavier and stiffer shaft, if it's straighter, then I'm okay with that.

The milled face looks great in person IMO but from the product pages and advertisements I thought it would be deeper (I suppose that's the whole point of the ads). Putter milling is deeper than the milling on the driver. This is more like the micro milling you'd see between wedge grooves.

Nothing much, I don’t know that she won’t be obligated to put it in anyways. Really excited about the 3 wood though. I haven’t hit the line myself yet, will need to do so soon. As always ymmv, I’m sure it will be a great driver for some people.

Just hit some demo shots and I would concur on my very limited sample size.

 

Current driver, F7+ double weight, back and draw with Chrome+ 70 stiff at 44.5".

 

Demos: F8+ with the stock NKKV Blue and weight forward. F8 with Even Flow Blue 60 5.5 flex. F8 fairway, weight back, stock Tensei blue stiff.

 

Neither was my idea setup. Look is better in person than the pictures (they had black, no nardo). Still prefer the matte on my F7+. Neither driver was a major wow for me from the numbers department, similar to my F7, though as a mid cap I'm a average ballstriker, so YMMV. Face feels a little firmer, mishit feedback was maybe a tad better than the F7. Good contact was not significant change or improvement. If I had to pick between the 2, I'd take the +.

 

The fairway felt incredible. I love my F7 fairway, and the difference was noticeable, great snap sound off the face. I don't know if it's enough to make a bunch of F7 players rush out and upgrade, but this one should grab the attention of some non Cobra players.

My friend did the fitting it was an Acura shaft in the driver and the 3 wood shaft was Diamana w 70. The bigger 3 wood is a nuke!

Well, I was at a shop today (in San Diego), and getting my ferrules / hosel resecured. Pro MB / CBs. The clubsmith seemed to impress upon me that new black irons are coming from cobra and soon. I don't know if they will be the CB / MBs but, that's all I could get.

 

I'm excited.

Hit both fairways today. First time I’ve ever been more impressed with the regular and not the +. I was a mess with the F8+. No idea why.

The Pro Shop only had the F8 fairway, not the plus.

Also hit the F7 fairway, walked out with the F7. It felt great!
