Don't expect anything different from the Z785's. They look identical from address as far as head shape goes. Didn't really pay too much attention to the offset. To my recollection, they seemed very similar.

Just took this for you. Mizuno MP-18 MMC on top, 785 on bottom. Both 7 irons. Keep in mind the 785 will look a little larger due to being closer to the camera in the photo.

Just took this for you. Mizuno MP-18 MMC on top, 785 on bottom. Both 7 irons. Keep in mind the 785 will look a little larger due to being closer to the camera in the photo.

 

 

 

That's a great comparison pic, thanks! The toe looks slightly, slightly smaller than the 765. Guess I'll have to go check it out once it's available in local stores. Dilemma: 785's or sc18's...but it's a good problem to have.

I played a loaner set of 765's for about six months. Received the 785's on Monday built to my specs. Went to range Monday night and played nine hole last night hitting several balls each hole. To me, the two heads felt exactly the same. I hit the 785's straighter and lower, but that is due to lie adjustment and shaft weight.

FYI, my pga superstore is receiving their demos on the 27th for a full release on Sept 15th

 

PGA super is one of the few shops that will actually carry these. Wish Srixon got into all the shops instead of only the super stores

 

J, you finally looking to upgrade the 745's? I'm doing these or the Mizunos depending on what hits best.

 

This will be the 3rd and final season for my 745's. I'm hoping they went back to the 745 shape and not the 765 shape. If it looks like the 765 I'll be going elsewhere for irons.

 

Saw and hit the new 785's. Still not squarish on the toe, but definitely not as round as the 765's. Kind of a tweener. I think good enough for me to give them a whirl when they come out. Feel is just awesome. Actually a little better than my Mizzie's

top line looked the same to me from 765 to 785, but I did not set them side by side. I got the ZU85 in 2-4 and they have a visibly thicker top line.

Compared to the 765, which I’ve played for 2 years, I thought the sole was narrower, heel to toe was close with any difference really being how rounded the toe was (i would say the 785s have a round toe stil but less so, as the pic above shows). The top line appeared a bit slimmer but don’t have both clubs in hand atm to confirm that. The 785s do appear a bit slimmer in their overall profile than the 765s, which is echoed by the pics that have been circulating.

 

Visually to me the biggest difference was probably in the short irons which look much more square to me than the 765s did with a straighter leading edge and the slight difference in the shape of the toe. To me this is a good thing as I never was completely sold on the look of the 765 short irons.

 

I haven’t had a chance to hit them so can’t comment on the difference in forgiveness. I’m a big fan of the v-sole in the 765 but have sometimes felt it was a bit clunky on really firm turf so I’m hoping the changes they made by making the sole a bit thinner will help with that.

 

Once I get a few rounds and range sessions under my belt I will post more about my thoughts vs the 765s. I’m left handed so never got to hit the 745 though from visuals alone they probably are my favorite, followed by the 785s with the 765s being my least favorite, which is saying a lot as I think they look great as well.

The 785's most likely will be my next set of irons. The feel fantastic, and I was amazed how easy they go through the turf. My toughest decision is what I'm going to use for the 4 & 5 iron. Was thinking the 585's, but I just don't like the sound and clickness of them compared to the 785's. I actually like the feel of the u85's better than the 585's, but they do show some metal out the back of the iron. May go with the 4 hybrid as I do like that, and just get the 5 iron in the 785. More testing to be done on that part of the set up.

A friend of mine ordered the 785's so i'm looking forward to seeing/hitting them. I'll be surprised if I like them more then my 745's. The Mizzy JPX 919 stuff looks stellar and the Mp-18 line.

 

As for the face on pic in this thread I think most irons look the same from this angle and it doesn't tell me much. At address is the end all be all as the top line determines so much in the way of looks as well as offset.

They seem more forgiving, maybe a little bigger or more rounded in the higher lofts, and I hit them higher... although thats probably for the shaft since I have pro modus 120 in these and had S300 in my 545's

Totally agree. Shorter blade length than the 65 series and just looks more appealing overall. Still waiting on my custom set

Hopefully you get yours soon. Seems to me they are starting to get out a lot of the custom sets. Four of the guys at my Club who switched over to Srixon started getting their custom sets yesterday with a couple more evidently supposed to receive this week.
