OLD OLD school. Taylor Made Burner Plus. from 1980s 150cc with Titanium X flex shaft at 43 and 7/8 inch long. That was a really long driver back in those days. Titanium shafts would bend at the tip after a while. But boy were they long with a balata ball.

Bridgestone J33P 9.5 loft with NV 75x

Bridgestone J33 8.5 loft 420CC with Penley 90 gram low torque shaft. Black with the yellow stripe.

Bridgestone J33 460 8.5 loft with Aldila Protopype 80x.

Titliest 975D 6.5 loft with RIfle 7.5 shaft shoved all the way thru and then tipped. The stepless Rifle shaft. from the mid 90s. Steel shaft.

Based on what you've posted here and what is in your signature, you seem like the type of person who loves dusty, old golf shops, and someone I would also not want to play for money.

975D grafalloy prolite

975D EI70

Ping TISI UST PF GOLD 65 OR 75

Callaway GBB same shafts as 975d

I was thinking almost the same as a few of these...

GBB with prolite

975D with prolite...I had both these and loved it in the 975D

Ping ISI with bimatrix

Steelhead (navy blue head) with EI 70

And this wont be a common one but...Tour Burner with PX X-7A3...I cracked the tip inside the hosel and had I not done that I would probably still be hitting this combo

Was just about to post the same thing regarding the Burner Plus/Sadvink Ti combo... loved that thing. Never ran into a bending issue, though (as far as I know).

Most already mentioned

975D with EI-70

TM 510TP with Speeder 757

Ping Rapture with Diamana Blueboard

For fairway woods it would have to be the Adams Redline series (5050, 4060, 3070) with the Matrix Ozik Code-8. Just a killer combo, so good, I still play it.

New stuff

Being just north of 30 this year, my knowledge base only goes back so far, but my junior year of high school, which was 2004, there was a kid who's dad had some serious Taylormade connections and was, at the time, the most awe inspiring driver of the ball I had ever seen. He played a 300 Tour driver, the deeper faced one with TOUR on the sole above the center plate. It had the most awesome looking shaft I had ever seen, which I became to know as the Tour ShaqX. I did some research and found out these things were only available on Tour and were selling for as much as a crappy used car at the time. I wanted to hit that driver so bad that it started my equipment obsession. Unfortunately I was never able to own one at the time and did eventually pick one up years later for under $100 just to see what it was all about. I actually still have it.

For me, the first really iconic driver I ever owned was the following year. A Taylormade R510 TP driver with a Speeder 757. It changed my entire driving game and was a million miles better than anything else on the market at the time. I still have that head as well. This thread is giving me an idea for a vintage test. Hmmmm.
