The course setup was great - literally meant everyone had a chance as put premium on strategy over distance.

Was hoping Duval would play better. He made four birdies, but had back to back 7s on #5 & #6, then doubled #15 & #18. Shot nine over & was nine over on those four holes.

Stingers off the tee all day. Several times had 3-4-5 irons into par 4s. Very conservative. Made a 30 footer for birdie. Had a stiff neck upper back apparently. Par for him was great. As others mentioned could have been a few over or a few under depending on breaks

Pretty good, started leaving putts 3' short on the back nine

 

Didn't birdie either par 5 from the fairway including going after an absolutely impossible pin where 25' was a great shot and ended up plugging a 134' high 8 iron in the bunker

 

Mostly irons, some he was unhappy with but were still more than long enough

Front 9, or really the first 11 or so holes, he looked very confident, very stable. He started leaking a little oil and missing some shots coming down the stretch. I didn't see any huge misses, but he definitely was not as crisp late in the round.

 

Off the tee he was incredibly conservative. 1 Driver, 2 3ws, and 15 irons. The irons seemed mostly in the mid iron range (like 4 and 5 irons).

not necessarily making things easier. They will have to give up 5 irons with 200 yards or roll for woods to get the ball out far enough to go for greens. the gorse will get thick, wet, and heavy making hitting fairways more of a premium. so it may get even more interesting.

Exactly why I loved playing this course. If you try to bite off more than you can chew the course will make you pay dearly but if you pull off the risk, you’ll be rewarded. Genius design.

Felt like the coverage here in America was absolutely horrible. Felt like I spent more time watching the commentators talk about pointless topics than I did actually watching golfing. They just about missed Rory teeing off because they were having such a good time talking. I truly think they forget that people tune in to these things to watch golf, not to watch the commentators spew whatever their producers tell them to.
