Just ordered the 2017 M2 HL 16.5 Fairway wood super pumped! Heard it's a beast of a club and will be much easier to hit off of deck into par 5's. Koepka still games this so that was a huge deciding factor for me as well.

Not sure what a 4 wood loft is supposed to be but my Ping g400 5 wood loft is 17.5.

I think thats pretty close to a 4 wood loft.

I have a TaylorMade HL 16.5 and love it. Goes within 5 yards of my 3 wood off the tee and is as easy to hit as my 5 wood off the deck and I gain about 5 yards. Also clears out a spot in the bag for another club.

Played a Callaway Diablo Octane 4 wood for years (just like Henrik Stenson and his 3 wood). Recently moved to a Titleist 917 F2 16.5* set to A1 with Mitsubishi Diamana 70 regular shaft.

Read a great article about 3 woods and how too many people play them and most should carry a 4 wood and I totally agree. I hardly ever hit my 3 wood (15 degrees) and it was very difficult off the deck into par 5's. Can't wait to get my hands on this 4 wood (Taylormade 2017 M2 HL 16.5) that I know should be more consistent!

Ditto to Flyer’s post - use mine off the tee on short par 4s and from the fairway on long par 4s.... and par 5s. At least the open par 5s. ?

I've been using a 4w for a decade and at times it's been my favorite club in the whole bag. I've had ongoing trouble with the additional shaft length of a 3w and despite being a high ball hitter I've always battled with elevating 3w off the fairway. Plus, now so many fairway woods are so freaking hot that you can play a 17 or 18 degree wood and it will go nearly as far as 14-15 degree woods in the past.

M6 16.5. It’s a ladies head, but it’s the same as men, same marking, same weight. I verified with TaylorMade. I installed my own shaft, great 4 wood!

I have both EX10 Beta 4 and 5 wood. 5 Wood is shafted with GD Tour AD F in SR (Still Reg) and it’s little too stiff for me. Great clubs.

I played a 16.5 for a handful of years. Then went to G400 SFT 3 wood (16 degrees). Found it a bit left and spinny. Moved to a 17.5 G 5 wood last summer (lofted down to 16.5) which was as long. Since I added the G410+ driver this year I decided to add the G410 5W, again playiing at the large minus/16.5.

I think the half inch shorter length of the 5 woods is more versatile and probably no distance loss for me.

Ive got my M5 3w cranked up to 17° as a 4w, just got an M5 5w, will likely move it to 21° as a 6w!

It’s stamped a 3-wood but it’s a 16.5* TM M4 HL so some may say it’s a 4-wood in disguise.

I have the 2017 M2 HL. It's a 4 wood they just call it High Launch for whatever reason. Absolutely love this club and will never play a 3 wood again.

They call it 3HL because they made the shaft same length as their 3 wood. Generally 4 woods are short in length with little more loft.

Driver, 3HL, 2 Hybrid for me. I’ve always enjoyed a little more loft and a shorter shaft (42.75 inches) in my fairway wood. Zero sacrifice in distance, and much more playable than a standard 3 wood.

could never get the gapping right with a 3w, shortened an m3 3hl to 42.75 and haven’t looked back

M3 HL cut down to 42.5. This is the only FW wood I've ever had confidence in. That is in 20 years.

 

Great off the tee while not being too long and getting close to the driver.

Night and day difference off the deck vs a 15" 3W. I don't feel as I have to hit it exactly perfect. So much better.

Yup I have the 2017 M2 HL and it came standard at 43.25 and I knew right away that was too long. Cut it to 42.5 and put a lighter grip on it to bring the swingweight back up and now the club is perfect!
