Joel Dahmen accuses Kang of cheating

It's done and over with. If the rules official didn't make a call or there is no video then its time to let it go. Look at Phil and his double hit, it was ruled that he should not have been DQ'ed, so why do people who never have or ever will golf at his level make such a big fuse.

A gentleman who works for ShotLink said the official asked him and he said the ball absolutely did not cross where Kang said it did. He backed Joel's account 100%.

Using the word "cheated" implies that Kang knew the ball didn't cross. Whether that is true or not would be hard to know. Regardless, I've been around a lot of high level amateur competitive golf and it is pretty universal that a player takes the poorer position if it's no certain what happened. At least that is how I've seen it done.

20 min and no rules official showed up? They had to let a group play through, lol

A rules official was there, JD said he spent the entire time arguing with him til he was "blue in the face".

Honestly, not a good look for JD. Why so petty? He wasn't in contention and Kang wasn't costing him any money. Call in a rules official and let them decide and move on.

Could be he just doesn't like cheaters. It shouldn't matter whether it impacted him personally or not. Cheaters deserve to be called out.

Exactly. Letting it go once makes it OK. Same reason sandbaggers and low lifes ruin so many games across the world. At some point they got away with it and there's no going back.

Ive seen this type of thing happen to influence outcomes. It’s actually pretty common and def unfair.

I think some sports have a narrative they like to follow. I watched at RBC as a relative unknown suddenly won and everyone else’s putting went to dust. I feel like some tournaments are 100 and real. While others .... the narrative happens.

Who knows, just sucks when first place is unattainable , so the players play for second place.

This sounds like a very questionable situation looking at the facts, including the shot link and how adamant dahmen was as well as others, seems pretty clear that Kang is just a cheater; you don’t just make a mistake in seeing whether your ball crossed the hazard line. Like someone else said, people like this ruin golf and I am now anti-Kang. 0 integrity

Good to see someone call out another player if they feel they are breaking the rules. Don't see how it could go back and forth for so long though.

Also let's be real that hat was awful...

Not a great fashion statement but Joel is a testicular cancer survivor who is likely wearing it for protection reasons.

Must be a big hat if it protects his testicles! ?

Sorry, just so we are clear - are you suggesting that some golf tournaments are rigged?

I can understand a difference in opinion in terms of where the ball went in. But to call someone a cheater on twitter, after you lost the dispute with the rules official, and after you signed the scorecard, is just a bad look. You can say, we disagreed on the drop, but calling someone a cheater is disrespectful.

I think Kang should sue his pale behind.

Three separate people involved have come forward and all said he cheated and took an incorrect drop. The Player, The shotlink guy, and now a Marshall.

He could sue... but I think it would only get worse for him.

Admit I didn't see it, but think Dahmen would have been better off leaving out "Kang cheated" & just presented the facts as he saw them.

That's the problem with our society, we want to sugar-coat everything.

Well the problem with social media is that it is not fair. Social Media users are Judge, Jury and Executioner. It is quite swift, and damaging.

I mean are our courts going to devolve into “twitter justice”.

It would hurt the Tour's image to admit Kang cheated, hence the cover up, sweep it under the rug treatment. Dissapointed in the Tour but definitely not surprised by it. They care about their profits and image, not real honesty.

If they have no proof otherwise, what can they really do but rely on the call made by the only person capable of making the call on the spot (ie the rules official). Last time I checked shot link guys and marshals are not rules officials

I'd go along with the Tour thinks it would hurt their image whilst us humans would appreciate their action.

Hmmm...finally a place to use whilst and not took like a total DNozzle. Just a partial DN.
