New TM UDI

I had the TM 790 UDI and got rid of it because it was a pain to get my SW dialed (too light). The older TM UDI (tour preferred) was great because I could add hotmelt behind the badge like they did on tour. I see with the gapr they added that small screw in the center im hoping you can get weighted screws or you can pop that out and add melt in a space they kept reserved for it. Tip weights of course can be used but i'd rather add weight to the club head and not the shaft.

i don't see how any of the GAPR irons will be more beneficial to me than the P790 3i has been at the top of my bag.

they're fatter on the sole, adjustable (tends to feel worse to me) and otherwise look 'clunkier' at address.

yea that's a no for me dog.

The 790 UDI had a small screw too. But these are filled with speed foam, so there's no place inside the head to allow for hot melt. The GAPRs won't be any easier getting a heavy swing weight out of. Especially considering the lengthened the shafts on them. (40" stock on the P790 2 iron, 40.25" stock on the GAPR Low 2 iron). I'm assuming they are making the stock shaft length longer to hopefully add a little boost to the swing weight. There's a reason Matsuyama already had lead tape across the back of his GAPR Lo.

just bought a P790 UDI 2i...they match my P770s better :)

In all seriousness GAPR looks ugly and I'd rather test the P790 and go from there...now carrying 1W/3W/19 degree/2iron UDI/4iron+

Doesn't seen hard to remove the screw. Getting heavier replacements will be the challenge.

I’m wondering how consistent the heads are in weight with the 790UDI. I swapped the stock crap shaft for a Tensei White 100TX and it’s a hair under 40” played D3.5

I wonder if they have multiple weight heads? I had a factory 2-iron UDI with an $-Taper, swapped in an ATMOS Blue HB 8x @ 40.125" and it came in at D0.3. I added some lead tape, that's a little to low for me.

I'll have to see what there is for other shaft offerings, hopefully the Speeder 869. I could see myself gaming the GAPR Mid 3 iron.

Agreed. I'm going to get a Tour AD driving iron shaft in 98g, and play it 1/2" short. If I'm doing my math right, I'll still need to add 4g to the head. Was considering messing with tip weights...but I know nothing about them really.

I ordered a 790 UDI at 1/2" short. Came in at 40.5"... I cut it down to the right length but I haven't swung it yet so I have yet to see how much lead tape I'll need. This new one is going to need like 1" shorter length. I don't get it. I'm 6'1" tall and I can't deal with clubs that long. How are average height people supposed to play it??? Clubs this long make no sense to me.

I don't think they were very consistent. My head is extremely light. I am playing a Tensei White 90tx in mine at 40" and I added a 4 gram tip weight and a strip of lead tape to get it to DO.

I haven’t had the swing weight checked on mine but I play mine at 39.75 with a x100 so the shaft is a little heavier. The feel compared to my irons that are D5 4-pw and my 3 iron is D4 it feels right in about the same. I haven’t swung a 790 with a graphite shaft but I’m loving it with the X100

I guess it all comes back to the actual specs on the KBS shaft that comes as stock. The OEM tour hybrid is badged as one that has a fairly neutral balance point, rather than some of their counter-balanced offers.

So a typical 95g replacement shaft at 0.5" shorter than the TM stock should be about 1 to 1.5 swpts lighter than the claimed D2

Looking at the cut thru images, that is definitely a weight port, but I agree with others in thinking it probably isn't designed to be removed by the customer

For those who want to stick with the 790 2 iron i'm hearing almost every player on tour is jumping to the GAPR for increase MOI and ballspeed. I'm also hearing it's much better from the turf. This is a true driving iron whereas the 790 2 iron was a filler until this was ready.

Just scooped the P790 2-iron for $165 from a WRXer...I figured for that price slightly used, I'd game it and see how it goes. I don't imagine ever really hitting it off the fairway (still keeping the hybrid in the bag too) but I've never trusted my driver and figured this gives me another option from the tee besides bombing 3-woods.

Also figured that because some find the GAPR ugly (which I do), the demand for the UDI which was out for 4-months might keep pricing on the secondary market decent if I decide to swap to GAPR for the 2019 season...

I really hope their shaft list is better for the GAPR than the 790 UDI. Same with the hybrids. All of them so light or not available in all flexes. I would've loved a SteelFiber i95 X in the 790 UDI but nope, only Stiff...

you do realise it is a P790 iron which are very easy to hit, very long and forgiving.

I have had mine a month, hit it two times from the fairway - 290 downwind, Scottish links onto green. 245 Carry and stop, Houston weird soft grass.

I even hit one missing the grooves on the toe off the tee and it still went straight 220(links in Scotland, home course) I was shocked and sold then.

The new one might perform but it looks less like an Iron and there are lots very happy with the p790 UDI.
