Not a fan of the name or the green color, BUT I am a fan of the idea and the look so I'm certainly intrigued. GAPR!

I’ll stick with my 790 UDI. I doubt this will go any further or straighter. Not a fan of the look either... The green ruined it for me. All black with chrome accents would have looked 10x better IMO.

Stock shaft being kbs hybrid proto is nice offering compared to previous models

Where did you see it say it was the Proto version? Website just calls it as a KBS Hybrid.

https://www.taylormadegolf.com/GAPR-LO/DW-AL168.html?cgid=taylormade-gapr#icid=hp-main-gapr-pdp&start=1&

I hope there are custom shaft options available for this when pre order hits.

Yep Definitely a “made for” KBS graphite hybrid shaft in matching green.

The only thing I don’t like is the color. Would have much preferred a satin or chrome finish.

Same here... not going to stop me from buying a couple though. :derisive:

Anyone seen this? When's it released ? https://instagram.com/p/Bk0hnMFHMjl/

Best looking TM Hybrid head in a long time, until they said lets indent the crown :stink:

How can they basically take a Adams Pro Hybrid & screw it up.

Here is what I don't understand about the theory behind these clubs. The idea is to have them fit the gap between your longest iron and your shortest wood. The standard length of a TM 4 iron (excluding the M4 irons )is 38.25". In theory amateurs have trouble hitting that club, so they want us to pull it out and replace it with a club that is anywhere between 1" and 1.5" longer? And on top of that, they're sticking us in a stock shaft that barely hits 80g in an x flex? So, on the one hand, they're telling us that the whole point of these clubs is to hit a specific distance to fill a specific gap--which is a concept that speaks to control, center contact and proper launch conditions. But on the other hand, they're still spec'ing out the club to make it go as far as possible. And I'm not just picking on TM here--look at the stock lengths of the other major manufacturers and they're within a 1/2" of TM's stock length too.

So let's do this--consider this an open plea to TM and all the other major club manufacturers. Please stop treating hybrids like mini fairway woods designed to hit the ball as far as possible. Give us something that speaks to consistent, reliable contact designed to minimize our dispersion. For most of the population, that means keeping the length and weighting somewhat consistent with the irons we're replacing and using the mass properties of the head to improve launch and spin conditions to create an "iron" that we can actually hit and that maintains appropriate gaping at the low end of our bag (instead of getting gap compression--which is a phenomenon that shouldn't surprise anyone if we look at the loft compression at the low end of today's iron sets). And if we can hit it solidly more of the time, the distance will follow anyway. TM brought out an accuracy based marketing campaign in the driver this year. Why can't a manufacturer succeed with a similar campaign in the hybrid/long iron/driving iron space?

I can imagine a tour-issue chrome or satin finish head if anything?

I get what you're saying for sure. As I'm sure you already know, they're just relating the inches in extra length, stronger loft, and graphite shaft into more distance. The head sizes look pretty large, which would make me think more forgiveness. I can see it being a pretty consistent club depending on strike of course, like anything else out there.

For any owners of the OG UDI or P790 UDI, with the appropriate shaft + specs

You shouldn't flinch at this release or any for a long time. Them models are rocket launchers with perfect aesthetics.
