I have never had a completely matching set of brand or color, although I am only 4 clubs from having all TaylorMade. I have always liked Cleveland wedges and impulse bought my 54* SM5 used a while back.

All chrome except for my 58* which is flat black, my 5W which has a white head/shaft, and my VRS Covert which is naturally red.

Play what works and gives you confidence, if it happens to be an all matching set, so be it, if not it’s not worth any worry.

Driver - Taylormade M2 2017 9.75*

3W - Cobra RadSpeed Draw 14.5*

5W - Callaway Epic Flash 18*

7W - Taylormade M4 5HL 21*

5H - Callaway Rogue 24*

Irons - Taylormade P790 6-PW

Wedges - TM Milled Grind 50* & 54* | Hi-Toe 60*

Putter - Nike Method Converge B1-01

Grips - MCC clone| Ball - TP5

I am curious and could use some input on you guys that have mixed bags

And by mixed bags I mean this

Wedges that don't match in color or model

Playing chrome irons but black wedges

Etc

Stuff like this

My OCD makes this so hard. I would love to see who does it or who doesn't and why. Hell even throw a pic for example. I need help getting over this

I used to be the same way. The past couple of years I have had a very mixed bag and never played better.

Tour Edge Exotics woods

Maltby hybrid

Hireko irons

Ping wedges

Wishon putter

I see some value in matching wedges, as they tend to have a similar look and feel. I like having 3 MD Forged wedges for example...If i had a 3 and a 5 wood i would probably match them for the same reasons

But i try to use what's best. I got a bunch of free stuff from Callaway and i still use a Ping driver for most of my rounds now. It just works better

Except for driver & 4 wood mine is consistent within the types, but not brand or finish...

M1 driver w/ 917 4 wood

G400 3 & 4 hybrid

AP3 5-P

SM6 grey 48, 54, 58

TM Daddy Long Legs putter

Edit: my OCD mainly pertains to the hybrids & wedges. They pretty much need to be the same type & finish, but I did play an i25 5 hybrid for 4 years that didn't match the 3 & 4 (although the 3 & 4 have all been Pings during that time).

Rogue ST LS 10.5 | TSi2 15 | G425 4H 20.5 | ZX4 4 | ZX5 5-P | CBX ZC 48 & 52.5 | Glide 2.0 Stealth 58 | Itsy Bitsy Spider | TP5x

I miss Scor wedges. Damn those things were sweet. The TK wedges were similar, but not spot on

I play a very mixed set, basically on purpose. That said, my irons match, my wedges do as well. I used to get a matching 3 wood with whatever driver I bought, but I learned that they are almost always completely different in terms of feel. Now I just buy the stuff I like.

Overall, I find it a little psychotic to have matching bag, clubs and balls, unless you are being paid to do so. But to each his own.

Name on the titleist staff bag with all titleist everything is peak wanker imo. I lump that guy in with the guy driving the mazarati who wears a mazarati jacket everywhere.

I work in business. I sit in stuffy marriot meeting rooms full of people trying to figure out how to build brand loyalty. We've got everyone filed away in neat little demo's. If you are this age and watch this show and live here, you will buy this thing. Its incredible how accurate this info is. Titleist/ping/taylormade etc are working tirelessly to get you to buy into their brand. At the end of the day, their primary objective is your wallet. They will take every nickel that you are willing to offer up, even if it is your last. Itsnot that they are evil, these companies are made up of people who are just wokring for a living just like you are and they need to sell x% more next year in order to do well in their job. They dont really know you, so there is no loyalty going the other way. You are a sad sheep if you blindly buy into every little nick nack they peddle.

Many, many years ago i worked in golf retail and I would get a new setup each year from different manufacturer. By setup, i mean staff bag, driver through putter, rain suit, umbrella, towell, gloves, balls, logo shirts. Pretty much everything they made. All the clubs were custom built to my specs. I would usually spend the first month with all matching equipment and slowly switch out what didnt work well with something from a previous bag. Never bothered me, just wanted to use what worked best. Driver seldom match the three wood. Would sometimes split the iron in half and use one brand 2-5 iron and another brand 6-p. Sand wedge and lob wedge were usually Cleveland but seldom the same model year or finish, or shaft. I still play an old Adams three wood with a "Speeder for Titleist" shaft, so no OCD here.

My bag is all over the place colors and brands. I don't care about any of that and use the clubs that work for me at the time.

Personally like each segment of bag to share very similar characteristics from address. That being stated, my tastes are very particular and I will test whatever appeals to those tastes. If it works consistently better than club seeking to displace, it stays- irrespective of brand.

Picture shows a P790 AW but don't get along with it so I moved to a Glide 2.0 50 bent to 49 but have a Glide Stealth in route to replace it, so my issue with wedges (all black) will be satisfied. Something about the Glide Stealth that I really find appealing from appearance to feel to performance. They just work for me better than any wedge I have ever used other than the old Cleveland 588 RTG's that I played many years ago.

I'm with you Radeon...I put a Glide 2.0 (gray) gap wedge in with P790s, and 54/58 that are black SM7s. My OCD is telling me I at least need a stealth 2.0 to match color. I'm ok playing TM irons, and 2 brands of wedges, but multiple colors and 3 different brands is tough for me to look at. It works though...

I used to have the exact same issue due to similar OCD/anxiety. Used to have to match wedge models, colors (for a time I loved a cobra zl encore driver with a white head, so had to go all other white heads). But I started to become unhappy feeling stuck to one model. What turned it around for me was being able to find clubs that have some feature/detail in common. Some examples include: mizuno s18 wedge and TM tour preferred wedge both have that trapezoid shape, customized callaway mack daddy wedge to have red dots in back to match scotty red dots, titleist 913 fairway wood and callaway x hot pro hybrid both have those similar white lines with red trim on the outer part of the white, titleist 915 and callaway GBB epic both have that similar sun ray type design (not sure what to call that, 915 driver matches better since it has 4 spikes like gbb epic, fairway 915s have only 3 and hybrids only 2), even finding clubs with the same number in the name like titleist 816 hybrid and callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 fairway.

It's amazing how many clubs have similar features/cosmetics. I've put together a ton of similar pairs over the years. It really opened me up to play/experiment with new things and then hunt for something similar, but different. It almost turns into a scavenger hunt to find something alike and it can even be fun to try finding clubs with something in common to another. Hopefully that helps you also!

I have a fairly mixed bag I think there are 5 different brands in there.

Wedges must be the same for me, I like continuity and familiarity in the short clubs.

I also like my driver and 3 wood to be the same i.e. M2 driver/M2 fairway.

I totally understand OCD personalities, but realistically you should play whatever performs the best for you.
