G400 driver replacement in January

herbygolf21

Recommended Posts

I think it is interesting to note this:

Per Rick Shiels:

G400 LST: 161.2 ball speed / 11.2 Launch angle / 1865 Spin / 305 total yards

G410: 162 ball speed / 13.2 launch angle / 2100 Spin / 310 total yards

So you can infer that the 410 is longer and creates faster ball speed than Pings longest driver to date (the LST)....... ANNNDDDD spins more (just a tad) meaning that it should be more forgiving and controllable.

A win win? Some would say.

Of course I know each driver is different for each individual.

Unfortunately we only have Rick at this juncture.

Funny how it seems like the G410+ is one of the hottest faced drivers based on a few Youtube reviews. Ok we all know the margins are really small but still, impressive.

But don't know who is going to pay $540 for this though..?

They are not multi material heads (no carbon fiber) that would explain some of the cost, I mean I Callaway had buy a damn supercomputer and as I understand the jailbreak bars are very complex to manufacutre into the head... And TaylorMade has to individually test every single driver head..

And I understood Ping made money with G400 because it was cheaper than the multi material competition while at the same time performing close to similar...

Yeah I really wish they would have stuck with a $475 or $500 price tag with this.

If I do purchase, it will be in 6 or 7 months for around $350 used when one of yall club whores gives it up for the PXG.

The only price I've seen so far for the 410 is $500, not $540. Still $100 more than the 400 but,,,,,,,,,,,

$200 more than the model it's replacing (G400). $100 more than a model it's not replacing (Max).

Yes, $200 more NOW, when the G400 is being replaced, not $200 more than when both were introduced. Seems to me the point was about the price increase from the G400 to G410.

Saw the price in the Rick Shiels video:

And here in the Nordics the prices are actually even higher then that, M5 for example will have a asking price after currency conversion of $680 so the G410+ will also be above that $540.

Currency conversions don't tell the story. The shelf price does. Today 450GBP is $511.

I guess we'll see soon enough. :dntknw:

James Robinson reviewed it, with a stock Evenflow Black stiff shaft, and found that it wasn't quite as long as some of the others that he has reviewed lately (by just a few yards), but it was consistent, and consistently straight.

He seemed to like it a lot.

Shafts are one thing that are hard to take into consideration when comparing clubs on the interwebs.

They really play a larger part in numbers than most ppl realize.

Interesting that they finally stopped the up-charge for the Tour and After Market shafts. That's a Plus.

Disappointed with shaft options, no real low launch/spin shafts in there. Looks like it is easier to optimize though. Looks nice though. Is there not a LST 5 wood?

Even flow black

My take on anything even flow is that really means code word for noodle. Low launch is diamana white, tensei pro white, tensei PRO orange, t1100, hzrdus black, speeder TS....etc

I just bought an even flow black and hit it last weekend. Everyone claimed it was really smooth. I felt like it was pretty stout. But that is coming from a guy that likes a Kiyoshi Purple.

So it's $699 at golftown (Canada). Going to be interesting to see if anyone buys it, the hybrids will probably $450.

Wow..... I can speculate why everything in Canada is crazy expensive but I won't. That's way too much
