Man i am disappointed. I hate the busy cavity area. if they had gone with something simple like the i210 but with the forgiveness of the G line that would have been fine without going to the full hollow bodies. I will reserve full judgement until I hit it and see it in person but man that looks busy.

that's from the fitting cart so I'll bet the image will stay up.

I, for one am disappointed. Aesthetically, I dont see anything that would make me want to switch from my 400s.

I agree. It is disappointing to go away with clean back like G700 and I500. I hope Ping did this for better forgiveness.

If you think about it, it makes sense. The clean back look you are referring to is a product of hollow bodied construction. They have the G700 and I500 as high and mid handicap hollow body options, to finish out their line they have put out the I210 and now the G410 as traditional cavity backs for the high and mid handicappers. Also I think the G410s look much better than any G series since the G25. Just my 0.02

I agree with part of this. The 410 looks better than the G series from the original G2 through the G but I don't think you can say definitively vs. the 400 and having 400s I can speak confidently though its certainly my own opinion and others will differ. I was hoping for a more compact G700 but again, in my opinion would mean a shorter blade and slightly thicker sole and topline. Kind of like a beefier i500.That's my dream iron. But, in trying to maintain a particular price point, that design (or something similar) may be cost prohibitive. Actually, I would have even liked a larger, more forgiving i210.

I agree with the above poster. But I will hold off judgement until I see topline/offset pics.

I can see this iron covering a wide range of players ability wise. Play the i210s at the moment but have to say if these are ,as the reports say , smaller slimmer with less offset then im in

Very interested in why you would swap from the i210. Currently playing the g400s and so disappointed of the look that I was thinking about the i210. The downside is that I’m still hitting inconsistently all over the face and I am sure that I will be punished a lot from the upgrade.. but man, they look so ugly that I struggle to see them in my bag..

Don’t want to speak on behalf of the other poster but I game the i210 but am starting the realize why wouldn’t you take more forgiveness in any club if your swing warrants it. If the offset isn’t crazy and the top line looks nice I may make the switch to the 410 as well

it would be more about a little more ball speed for me. The i210s are amazing. I play around a 5 or 6 after a year of injury. I m not an overly fast swinger( 102 mph) so i like something that jumps off the face. I ve never been a believer in certain irons for handicap etc.

The G410 irons (at least the back) are much better looking than the G400s. Hoping the topline is a bit thinner.

Can't wait to see side-by-side photos.

The Golf Galaxy by me had them in their case. I probably wasn't supposed to open the case but I did anyways. I feel like the back of the club was a little too busy for my liking. (Thats probably why I went with the i210's) Plus the cavity in the back is all blacked out which makes it look like it goes on FOREVER. I didn't to put a shaft in one and get in trouble so I just looked at it and put it back really quick. Also I noticed that the heads were pretty heavy

For those wishing these looked like the i500/G700, those are hollow bodied with all the tech inside. Imagine what they would like with their tech on the outside. And there were many (not me) who hated the cavity of the i210.

The thing is that although not consistent striker I feel that the g400 sole is not ideal and would like something slimmer.

I have been trying i210 and i500 at the driving range and in such controlled environment, not as much difference compared to my g400.

On the course, my ball striking is obviously different and pretty sure I would suffer a lot more on bad shots. On the other hand I see the move to i210 inevitable in 1 or 2 years. I was wondering if such leap would kill my passion or I could handle it struggling a bit in the first months. Tomorrow I will discuss it with my pga coach and will see.

Most amateur golfs hit all over the club face. I'm a single digit hc and my while there is noticeable wear on the sweet spot, it would take a silver dollar to cover all of my ball marks. My son is scratch and his faces look the same though slightly more wear in the center. I am of the belief that you play what looks and feels the best to you. While clubs can help mask swing flaws, you will not automatically shave 5 strokes off you game by playing more forgiving irons. You still have to drive, chip and putt.

I'm disappointed from the pics but I have to see what they look like at address and how they sound before I can judge them. I'm not a fan of these thin faced irons everyone is coming out with. To me, the feel just goes away.

I agree, and ball speed played a part of my same decision last year, but went the opposite way as you. I went i210 because the g400 would have given me too much ball speed especially in the shorter irons. Then gaping would have been messed up.

I did go with the g400 5 iron though which worked out distance wise, but the change in size and offset was really jarring from my i200 6iron. So in theory the g410 might blend better.

I demoed G400 iron at length today for first time and liked it. Offset didn't bother me and fwiw ok with the look. The G410 looks a little more compact but hate the cavity look, too busy, colors, big ole G.

I'll hit the G410 next week but thinking about getting a deal on G400s with a shaft I hit well today instead.
