G400 driver replacement in January

I had zero interest in the G410 after seeing the sole a couple weeks ago but now after seeing the crown I'm interested. It definitely looks much neater with the pear shaped head.

You might need to update your signature for the 410 as a possibility!

But why even have the SFT model when the Plus has a draw setting?

True. SFT and Max seem somewhat redundant.

Thought that was the idea of G410, to add the movable weight so you can have basically 3 models in 1 head.

We have to assume SFT has internal weighting in the heel but with the weight you can still fine tune the trajectory, makes sense that way..

I am loving the shape in this picture, it also confirms it's not a sliding weight (to all those saying "that's definitely a sliding weight"). 3 positions for that weight, heel, neutral and toe.

My guess, when all is released:

G410 Max

G410 Plus

G410 SFT

G410 LST

Probably.

But why even have the SFT model when the Plus has a draw setting?

And aren't these 455cc? Is a Max necessary? How much different could they make it with an extra 5cc?

Becuase the SFT will be more hook biased, lighter swing weight, and face is closed in the standard position. Totally different club, for those who can benefit from it.

So we are still on for the 21st?

And in that day we can expect the 400 Max to lower in price?

Everything I've read, including multiple threads and posts on Wrx, is that the Max will remain in the lineup after the 410 line comes out and the price WILL NOT be dropping.

G400 Max does not drop in price until its successor is brought to market. Or at least that was the info last I heard from PING. G400 Max should still be the highest MOI driver PING has, and as such, isn't being relegated to a lower price point like the rest of the G400 series has.

Doesn't seem like there would be a Max of the 410 with only 5 cc to add. Unless maybe the 410 Max has a fixed weight allowing for a MOI boost.

I was told the reason for no G410 LST yet is because the G410 plus spins less than the existing standard G400 and only a little more than the G400 LST. They are trying to figure out how much low spin is too low when it come to the G410 LST.

The 3 wood is what they are really excited about.

A lower spin G410 Plus is music to my ears!

Me too, means the 12 degree won't spin too much for me.

Still no iron pics?

I don't think anyone is going to risk their PING account to post pics. PING doesn't like that...at all.

Apparently Ping is very tight-lipped about this particular release. The gm at golf galaxy texted ping rep on eta. Rep thinks feb 15

I was hearing about first week of february for the irons, and first week of march for the drivers.

I love my G400 LST but i took the weight out and added it back in the form of hotmelt pushed close to the face to drop spin even more. It was noticeably better after that and my spin numbers got to around 2500. As for the fairway wood I hope they got it right. The previous versions have been extremely lack luster and spinny.

that's from the fitting cart so I'll bet the image will stay up.

I, for one am disappointed. Aesthetically, I dont see anything that would make me want to switch from my 400s.

I agree. It is disappointing to go away with clean back like G700 and I500. I hope Ping did this for better forgiveness.

If you think about it, it makes sense. The clean back look you are referring to is a product of hollow bodied construction. They have the G700 and I500 as high and mid handicap hollow body options, to finish out their line they have put out the I210 and now the G410 as traditional cavity backs for the high and mid handicappers. Also I think the G410s look much better than any G series since the G25. Just my 0.02

From Ping's Facebook. Showing their new clothing but subtly having a G410 9 iron in there. Looks to have a toe weight screw as well.
