Callaway 50* GW arrived today ... well go nicely with some brushed copper 54m and 58m grinds I picked up recently

"4th wedge" will be a zing 2 BeCu 61* or a Vokey 64.07

I've been a little delinquent on the bay as of late

Not sure if it is the feel or the patina or what .. but these are all like golf porn .. to me ,,, ymmv

Anyone else ?

I can't believe I don't know the answer to this, but I don't. What is the full list of TRUE copper wedges available today? Not a finish, the entire wedge made of copper. I'm interested to know.

I think the Cally I just picked up is ... older club though

Current ... not sure if any

Are there really fully copper wedges? I'd imagine that they would be expensive and incredibly soft. Like... soft enough that they would be out of spec after 1 round.

Callaway Rogue ST Max - Tensei AV White - 8*
Taylormade M3 HL - MFS5 White Tie 60S -0.75" (42.5")

Mizuno JPX 923 HMP - 4-G - Recoil 95 S - 2* upright

Callaway X-JAWS - 52/58*

Odyssey OWorks 2ball  -  34" - 1* loft - 71* lie
Slighter Proto 1 #9/Del Mar design - High Toe - Long neck - Deep Milled face - 33", 370gr, lie 71*, loft 4*

The Callaway ones are plated too - just look on ebay for some used ones and see the wear patterns. Copper is way too soft to make a full club out it...I remember reading somewhere that Jason Gore had a full copper putter made, and just leaning on it could bend the hosel. Plating is the way to go to get the strength of carbon steel with the looks of copper.

Just ordered the 50 & 56 Taylormade Hi Toe wedges because i love my 60 so much, and i love it simply because of the finish, but, i may be wrong, im sure these are copper plated?

It's why they are made of beryllium copper and why they are not readily available too. BeCu gets heat treated and adds a resilience to them but it is also incredibly expensive material, like 4X the expense of copper.

The older BeCu LW's (pick a model) from Ping are still the gold standard for greenside bunker play

So basically just older Ping and Cleveland 588's? Nobody makes a made from copper wedge? And I know of a copper alloy that looks amazing and is not too soft to play as a golf club. Maybe we should make some wedges. Haha. I can't believe none of the boutique companies like Edel makes anything of the sort.

Hogan made a becu wedge back in the 90’s. Had a couple and they were the bees knees!!!

What practical value woukd a copper wedge have over the standard wedge? Create more spin maybe?

Softer feel mostly. Plated copper is softer than chrome, cast BeCu is softer than steel casting and comparable to forged carbon. Is it earth shattering? No. Probably why plate is boutique and cast variety do not exist and true carbon steel forgings are not dominant seller either.

I had some Miura wedges and irons refinished with a copper plating with brushed nickle on top. I loved the look of them especially after a bit of use the copper really came thru on the wedges. I found the wedges hard to spin after the refinish. Not sure if it was mental or what but they were new before refinish. They felt good being forged steel with the copper plate not to clicky.

I have since sold the wedges but have hung onto the irons. I don[' think i will ever sell them there to pretty to look even if they are sitting in the back up bag at the moment.

I know this was a knock off but if anyone has one of the old Palm Springs 56* sand wedges in good condition I would love to buy it. A good friend of mine had one and loved it and lost it somewhere on our home course and it was never found or turned in. It would be great if I could replace it for him since he and his family are going through a tough time right now.

Who did the copper work? I have a set of k grinds ready for the same treatment.

I also have a BeCu Ram wedge from 25-30 years ago. I've never used it, someone sent it to me, knowing I have a "Ram thing." ;)

I have always liked the copper wedge looks. Unfortunately as a left hander it's hard to find anything other than basic chrome in a few lofts.
